Photo taken with iPhone 12 Pro. This one was shot in Pro raw. I was amazed at the detail recorded. I guess I'm still not over my life with big, "real" cameras, but I'm gaining.

Taken with iPhone 12 Pro as a jpeg. Weather was terrible, stuck inside, saw something beautiful & shot it.

I think you're going to really enjoy your iPhone 12 ProMax. The Pro raw files are really nice to work with. Lynn

Serena is a watercolorist. She sometimes paints in oils, or in acrylics, or occasionally in combinations of normal pigments and colored liquids not generally considered paint. She does these things because they're what she does. And by all appearances, she's made a fine living by doing so all the years I've known her. But first and foremost, she is a watercolorist.

I don't see her often, but today I did. At the Post Office. And we talked a while. Each time she and I have one of these random meetings, I come away from them and think, 'I still have my paints, I still have my paper, and I still have my brushes. I should get them out and.....' But so far I haven't. Instead....

The attached photo is NOT a 'Serena.' Its a digital emulation of a 'Serena.' Or as close to one as I can get.

Cropped, slight exposure increase, horizontal flip...he just looked better facing right.

I acquired Gulliver one day while working at my farm. The little stray was wandering around the place. The back of my car was open. I got home, parked, and a cat jumped out with me.

I named him Gulliver (for his travels). In about two years he has grown to 2 feet long from the base of his tail to his nose and all muscle.

A delightful photograph of a beautiful kitty. A lotta love going on in this photo.

I shoot both RAW and JPG. On my "new" camera (a Canon EOS 1DX) I'm finding that I like the automatically processed jpegs better than what I can do with the raw image. I do like using the raw image because it holds more detail. My standard adjustments to the raw is highlights down a tad (or a lot, depending); the blacks down to create contrast; clarity up about 50 points; vibrance up about 15; sharpening about 25. That brings it into acceptable range, but nothing I do seems to bring it to the level of the auto jpg. So what do I do to make the raw more closely match the jpeg?

(I really dislike doing the PP work, so at this point I'm inclined to just use the camera's JPG and call it done!)

(Note the jpegs shown are straight OOC with the camera's processing.)

I see what you mean and I'm in the same boat. With images from my A7Riii, I can process the raws and equal or usually beat the jpegs. With my new iPhone 12 Pro, I've processed a couple Pro raw files and my efforts don't beat the camera jpegs. I do help things simple. I work in camera raw, going PS and then make small area adjustments with NIK products. If you like what the camera is giving you, Hey, you are the photographer, if you like go with it. It's more fun shooting that processing anyway.

And outside of that, you've got nothing pretty to show us. Seriously, a beautiful job of photographing. Things I'd never see in northern Illinois.

A week or 10 days ago I posted the well recognized stuck ink cartridge in my Canon imageprograf Pro-1000 printer. There were a number of replies and most had a work-around because Canon didn't have a solution. That has changed for the better. My printer was 3 years out of warrantee. I called Canon and explained that I knew the problem was well known on line with Canon owners. I was not angry, just wondering if they, Canon, had a solution yet. The tech I talked with was very polite, very understanding, very knowledgeable, and very good at CYA for Canon. He said he was a software guy and he'd check with hardware. About 2 minutes later he returned and double checked the serial number on my printer. He already had the number, as the printer had been registered the day it arrived from B&H. When my serial number checked, he said it had taken Canon quite a long time to isolate the cause of the problem. They now know the the number series that received one or more bad springs that Canon had received. To solve the problem and be fair with their customers, they're going to ship me, and other owners with the problem, a new printer! Long live Canon! Yesterday afternoon my new printer arrived. It is new, not a rebuilt model. I now have to put my defective printer back in the shipping box, place the return label, which was included with the new printer, on the box, call Fed Ex for a pickup, and it's a done deal. I hope all you other guys & gals with a defective pro-1000 printer have the same good fortune I received.
