I had the exact same thing happen to me with a Promaster XC525 Tripod with Ball Head. What makes mine special it happened about 4 minutes after I removed it from the packaging. Needless to say, I put it all back, shims and all and sent it back to Amazon. The beauty of that tripod is that a friend of mine has one and it folds up into a length of about 13 inches. Oh well.

I just learned that Amazon is charging sales tax on purchases made and delivered in Maryland and 25 other states.

I see that Sigma is introducing a 18-300 lens right after the 16-300mm Tamron lens. Is there any reason to believe that this lens will have better IQ than the Tamron lens? Thanks for your input.

I was on an oiler out of Newport, RI. We used to refuel the Foresstal with AVGAS. It was indeed a historic warship.
