Great. A discussion of camera company sales turns into a political statement about Obama. Obama has a little over a year to go. Then You will have a new President to hate.

I am running MSO 13 and OO under Windows 10. The only problem I had was using the send item on the file menu. OO has not been updated for Windows 10 and does not allow you to use Windows 10 Mail to send documents. You have to save the document first and then send it as an attached item.

Buying an inkjet printer is always dicey. They can give you the printer for nothing but it can still end up being very expensive because of the high cost of the replacement ink cartridges. In many cases, it is cheaper to print your photos at Walmart or CVS than to print them at home.

This is a question without a definite answer. Is a photo more influenced by technology or by art. Ansel Adams used old, hard to use equipment to take great pictures. As I have said before, you can take great photos with an iPhone and lousy photos with a Nikon D810. What is more important is up to you.

I think that I got some bad Tech support from Dell (India).
When I surfed the Net, I found that I could have recovered by pressing the F8 Key during startup. Oh well, I should have looked there before calling Dell.

I tried to update to Windows 10 and I got the dreaded WHEA_UNRECOVERABLE_ERROR message. After 5 hours on the phone with Costco, Dell and Microsoft, it was determined that I had to reformat my Hard Drive and then reload everything. Thank God I had most of my files on an external Drive. It took me a whole day to do that but now the computer is back running well. I even tried to load Windows 10 again an this time I was successful. My computer runs faster and the interface is much better then on Windows 8.1.
The moral of the story is DONT UPGRADE TO WINDOWS 10 WITHOUT BACKING UP YOUR IMPORTANT FILES AND PROGRAMS.

The origin of OK is from the US Presidential election campaign of Martin Van Buren in 1836. Van Buren's ancestral home was "Old Kinderhook" in upstate New York. He ran saying that everything at his home was wonderful and when elected the country will be wonderful too in the spirit of Old Kinderhook or OK for short.

I own the 50 mm prime lens for my Nikon D5100. It is wonderful for outdoor portraits yielding sharp photos with lots of Bokeh. But for indoor portraits, the lens is too long with a crop sensor camera like mine. For indoor use, the 35 mm prime is more suitable.

In addition, a zoom lens with a f1.8 aperture would be large, heavy and expensive.

This is an age old question. To me, the bottom line is the photo. You can take great photos with your IPhone and lousy photos with the best DSLR and equipment. You are trying to capture a moment in time and make it interesting. Knowing the assets and limitations of your equipment and how to use them to get that photo helps a lot.

GIMP is good and it is free but it is awkward to use with raw files. You really need a separate raw file converter to make it work.

The thing about buying cameras and computers from Costco is their return policy. You can use the camera for 90 days and return it with no questions asked. No New York camera store will give you more than 30 days. It's worth paying the sales tax. As with anything you buy at a big box store, you should know what you want to buy before go in.

This lens is really good for port rates and yields excellent bokeh at lower f stops.

I am not trashing Apple. They're tops in industrial design. I have used Macs since the original in 1984. I own an iphone 6 and an iPad. What I am saying is that the Apple products are less flexible than the PCs. That is not a bad thing but on a return on investment analysis, I think the PC comes out ahead. Also, today much of the software is web bases and the platform is less important.

On the go, a laptop can be used for photo PP. However, the monitor screen is too small for serious work. Larger monitors such as on iMac or with desktop PCs are better for PP.

When Apple switched from the Motorola cpu to Intel, they stopped supporting the older Macs and Power PCs. Yes my Power PC still works but none of the updated software will run on it. The latest versions of PS, Open Office or Microsoft Office can not be loaded or run.
