I have an opportunity to buy a Sony a6000 mirrorless camera with 2 lenses from a big box store requiring membership (begins with C...ends in O) for about $650. My question - has anyone had any experience buying camera equipment from C...O? I am sure I can return everything to the store if there is an issue but I wonder if these stores carry genuine equipment???? Just wanting some advice.

The Big Box store would be the ideal place for price but you will not find the sales people very helpful.

I have bought camera stuff there and was very happy with the purchase years ago.

Given that this store also has an s in the middle of it's name you can rest easy. Their return policy is absolutely stellar and second to none weeks or even months after the purchase. They can also recreate and reprint your original invoice if you happen to have lost it and need one for a manufacturer's warranty claim.
Use them without any anxiety. They are great people.

It's so exiting to know they have so much and it is all good. And you don't have to wait for xmas anymore, just go anytime and load up. fill that shopping basket. No watching the mailbox and no looking for that brown truck. Genuine!

Local Big Box will most likely having you pay a state tax, whereas purchasing from one of the big New York stores will not. Could be a good savings.

BTW Many states require you to pay state income tax from items bought out of state that did not charge the tax. But almost no-one does.

In fact big box stores do not carry counterfeit. If you know exactly what you want and the price is right then there is no problem.

Having lived in the far east I have seen counterfeits of just about everything under the sun. But Canon or Nikon cameras? isn't that a little tricky to just copy?
Hmm, perhaps my Canon 60D bought in Saigon is a fake. Pretty good one. Used 3-4 years by now and no problems at all. Had 3 months Canon warranty plus 2 years in store, in house repair warranty. No problems. Maybe that is why they call me Lucky Jack.

As in a fake Sony camera? Not likely.

"a little tricky to just copy"? Both Canon and Nikon began their respective lives as "copies" of Leica. Long time ago in a far away place.....

Costco has a very good reputation among big box stores, generally being rated at the top. Also, they often have very good deals on photo equipment. They will soon be dropping American Express and probably going with Visa.

I have purchased both camera equipment and computers from them and have always been very pleased. No questions asked return policy, too. No worries if they have what you want. I'm awaiting my D7100 with 18-140 and 55-300 lenses that will be here Monday but B&H had the better deal this time and also always excellent service.
