Here's a shot I took this morning. Canon T6S, Canon 24-70L Lens. I like this alot better, taken about 1015. I cropped the photo.

Thanks for all your help.

I recently bought a Canon Eos Rebel T6s W/EF-S 18-135mm IS STM lens. Very impressed. I'm looking at the Sigma for birds and wildlife. Seems to be priced very reasonably. Is this a good fit with the T6s? Alternatives?

When the T6S came out, Sigma had some issues. You might want to Google Canon T6S and Sigma to find out what exactly happened. I've learned over the years that sometimes lesser in cost is also lesser in quality. Good luck.

I had that Sigma on a Nikon mount and it was sharp out to about 220mm. Most zooms have a sweet spot somewhere shy of the maximum. I have the 18-300 now and it is good out to about 270mm. I do better shooting at a shorter focal length and cropping in the computer to get a little more range and still be sharp. My 2 cents.

Thanks.

Are you using a tripod on the shots of the boats on the water I would think you would not have a weight issue that way and your pictures might be sharper too.

That's true.

That fast enough to eliminate subject movement as the problem. Are you shooting handheld or from a tripod?

Handheld.

It might be helpful to post some example photos (and click Download) so we can get a better idea of what is going on.

I thought I did, but I have now. Thanks.

Hello Mike

I see at the bottom of your page you list your list of what you own. Why don't you use the 5DMk lll and the 70-300mm L len's as apposed to the Sigma 18-250?

I have and the pictures were much better. I was trying to see if I could use the Sigma, the answer may be no, I can't. There is always the weight issue.

Stoping down will increase your depth of field but you will have to compensate with longer exposure or increased ISO. What shutter speed did you shoot the soft focus with?

Shutter speed was 1/400.
