My wife and I tried that same trip 5-September to 19-September this year, never made it due to smoke/fires. Many roads including PCH and main interstates closed especially to non residents. Weather was nice in the western states but we had to change plans. Wildfires are common out west Aug. thru Oct.

The iso 819k shots while pretty much unusable are still impressive as heck.

I absolutely love this shot. The colors, reflections, and light are perfect for me. But what really makes it is the reflection distortion as water transitions over the dam. This would be printed huge in my living room if it were mine.

Looks a lot like the minolta/sony a mount. As in "that's it".
Edit: Forgot to mention that it is the original minolta version which they updated to an 8 pin connection shortly before being aquired by sony.
