I watched it as well and am confused as to how it could possibly be a contender for an Oscar.

You confusion confuses me! It should win for Best Cinematography which was brilliant, and Best Picture because, well, it's definitely the best movie of the year.

Sorry, I don't know who "Admin" is but I have to question the movement of a couple of posts. Admin moved a question about camera distortion from Photo Analysis to Photo Gallery. The whole point was to have an expert analyze a photo and let me know if the distortion could be corrected. That doesn't belong in the Photo Gallery.

Then Admin moved a discussion about cinematography from Main Photography Discussion to General Chit-Chat. Is someone actually reading content before moving topics around? Sorry, but some thought did go into where these two were posted.

A Semi Truck missed the curve in the road this morning. He fell asleep at the wheel and was taken to hospital with a head injury. He was carrying about 48,000 lbs of Restaurant quality Angus Beef Brisket. The insurance agent was at the scene and said they could not keep the meat and would have to be destroyed or given away. So my husband loaded up about 300 lbs in the freezer most which will be given away, and the local farmers have come to get some. The tow truck driver just told us that there is still about 200 lbs they have put on pallets over the fence in our pasture. It is snowing heavily now so it should still be find by morning. Will probably take the rest down to the homeless shelter. WOW still cannot believe it.

Do you have a smoker? Brisket is the perfect choice for smoking. My son does it often and everyone loves it.

My favourite Rebel was the T3i. Great little camera and still going strong with my granddaughter. I moved on to the 70D which I'm still using, and now a 6D Mk II. I'm very happy with both. But the truth is I didn't really need either one. The T3i does a good job. After all, it's not the camera that takes the greatest shots - it's the person behind the camera!

I've been photographing for many years using the Canon Rebels. Loved my SL2 and now have the T7i. I've taken several photography courses and feel like I am ready to move on from the Rebel series. What recommendations for the next stepping stone for me? I am mostly a wildlife photographer and use primarily the Canon 100-400L. Do I even spend the bucks and move on? I'm pretty happy where I am but don't want to limit myself and wondering if moving on would open up a whole new world for me. Thank you in advance.

I had my long lens (600mm + 1.4X TC) set up to photograph birds near the bird feeder when four deer decide to eat the seed, blocking my view.

Zero cropping because it was so tight on the deer's face.

Good one! You can catch the birds later.

The photography is a wonderful work of art. Some many frames could be made into a picture that would hang on a wall.

I agree. The cinematogropher should definitely win an Oscar for that category.

I WAS referring to ads on TV for newly released flicks. It would actually mean more coming from somebody on this site. As I said. the movie is in my queue. I'm assuming that you streamed it?

I watched it on an extra-large screen via Netflix. It is (or has been) playing at select movie theatres in some cities.

It seems that every time I see an ad for a movie that calls it a "Cinematic Masterpiece" it turns out to be a bomb. Has anyone else noticed that? I'm not saying that this one is though. I have it on my queue with Netflix.

"Cinematic masterpiece" was my choice of words because that's my view on this movie. Some may, of course, disagree but I stand by it.

Just watched the film ROMA. You can watch it on Netflix and I highly recommend it. The Mexican film set in the 1970s is beautifully done. Cinematography is masterful - shot on 65mm digital black and white.

UHH'rs, I Was lucky to get these shots of a fine Northern Cardinal here in Michigan. Now, I'd like to work on the pose that's the most popular. I'd like your vote on the pose. The colors on all of them could be better. But it's the pose that I would appreciate your opinion on. Thanks.

I like number 3 the best.

A good job on the correction. Of course, the photo still has the problem of making those persons at the edges appear fat, but there is no correction I know of that can fix that.

Good point. Luckily it doesn't make me look fat!

I managed to achieve this with the settings shown below. It's not perfect but it might be a step in the direction that you want to go in. The visible verticals are approximately right.

Is there a way to improve the distortion in this photo? I didn't shoot this one but I need to include it in a wedding album.
