Admin is moving topics - not making sense

Sorry, I don't know who "Admin" is but I have to question the movement of a couple of posts. Admin moved a question about camera distortion from Photo Analysis to Photo Gallery. The whole point was to have an expert analyze a photo and let me know if the distortion could be corrected. That doesn't belong in the Photo Gallery.

Then Admin moved a discussion about cinematography from Main Photography Discussion to General Chit-Chat. Is someone actually reading content before moving topics around? Sorry, but some thought did go into where these two were posted.

Congrads and welcome to my world. Just another reason one should read the fine print when joining a forum. Most of the time it will say things like "admin etc has the right to do what ever he or she deems fit with topics" thus they are in control. In other words, freedom of speech isn't all it cracked up to be. I've even had admin (not here that I know of) move topics, edit my words and add images or data which I didn't add in order to make my topics look idiotic. Like I said, if the forum doesn't suit you then it's time to create you're own or forget these types of forums which allow the hidden abuse of others without any warning.

Technically the first picture shouldn't be posted in either of these sections. You shouldn't have mentioned it wasn't your own work. Analysis section says Photo Gallery rules apply. Photo Gallery rules start with "This section is for posting pictures you took."

I have no idea why they would have moved the second one.

Good luck with sorting it out.

BTW - I don't know if people running individual sections can move an image.

I've been kickin' around this forum for a while and I can't remember one shot, or comment that admin hasn't moved. He's awfully busy.
I just remember a couple of sarcastic remarks I made in answer in the attic and they stayed there. But tha't the only ones that he hasn't moved.
I just posted on in photo gallery; I wonder where that one will go.

It probably didn’t belong in Photo Analysis either. I think the Post Processing Digital Images section would be more logical.

That one definitely didn’t belong in Main Photography Discussion, but it seems strange to move it to General Chit Chat. I believe the Video For DSLR And Point And Shoot Cameras section would be more appropriate.

I have the impression that many of these decisions or actions are automated, not involving a living, sentient being. I could well be wrong, I frequently am, but it is something to consider.

"Then Admin moved a discussion about cinematography from Main Photography Discussion to General Chit-Chat."

I just read the post. I guess they figured discussing films that are up for an Academy Award is something to talk about, but isn't going to help anybody's photography.

I probably would have chosen Chit Chat for that.

I should have read the post before I commented above. I cannot see where that belongs in any photography forum.

Really?

Read the rules of each forum you post to.

Cinematography appreciation? You are surprised? Give me a break.
Photo analysis? No generic advice request and a list of requirement.
You ask: Is there a way to improve the distortion in this photo? I didn't shoot this one but I need to include it in a wedding album.
1) It is not your picture
2) You ask about post processing, there is a specialized section for that, use it.

If you post the wrong thing in the wrong place do not come and whine about it, sorry.

The admin is not a bot as our tea loving friend suggest. His decisions were correct.

Are some of the rules 'interesting'? Absolutely. I do not agree to : "one cannot post an image to start a conversation" but at the same time one can wonder what so folks would really post to 'start a conversation'.

"Here is a picture I took of a dead dog in the street, do you think this adds to UHH content quality?"

Because of that I do understand his reasoning. Yeah the dead dog thingy is a bit extreme but for this lot? Not far fetched.

Oh, RWR, notice that the admin never moves anything to a private forum. Reasoning? No idea but it might go onto the line, If I start dealing with the content of these private areas I can just stop doing anything else more important in my life. Also, I have noticed (personal experience) that the admin will move some topics you start to the right section - IF YOU ASK FOR IT-).

Gallery = dumping ground for all threads that start with an image in main section and chi-chat as well as for posts that misses the posted requirements in photo analysis.

Oh, by the way, this will be moved to chit-chat as this not a photographic subject.

One more thing to complain about?

Don't complain. This forum is free to us and regularly provides useful information to help us improve our photography and/or answer questions we have been pondering for some time. Admin can do whatever he/she/they want. I will never complain. I had a question moved a couple weeks ago. It didn't matter. I still got useful input.
