I think she is trying to ask how to read the histogram as in perspective to the picture. WHAT is the histogram telling you about the picture. I know that is what I want to know. I'm not to good with histograms. I have understood it to be a way to see the picture in digital form so if you are in a position that you cant see the picture clear (bright sun) you can quickly look at the histogram to judge the photo.
yes you are all correct on the 500 also I have found that a pop up flash in most cases is not needed. and as for the gps when I down load the files in the properties it shows on maps where the photo was taken. I have had the d500 for a little less then a year best thing I have done. big upgrade from the d200. my next upgrade is to a fx d810
I just got a sd-8a battery pack for my sb-800. It was cheap and used, no instructions with it and can't find manual online. My question is it looks like there is a led light on the bottom or a inferred receiver? when is that suppose to come on? When you put batteries in and hook up to flash it all works well but dont know if battery pack is working . Any help would be great thanks.

Hello, for those who remember the good old days. They are fading away and this was a very big 2 story store. I'm sure there are a lot of you who have a lot of memories of SEARS. I hate to see this like this happen but you cant be on the top forever.

What is a good entry level program for me. I don't do a lot of processing if it is not a great shot I just delete it.is light room a entry level?

I also have a d500 and a tab 4 samsung. All works great as it should take pictures and uploads to snap bridge within minutes. Then I share the pictures with either email or put them all right in dropbox. Very easy for me.
Hello all, I just recently got a d500 , best move I ever did from my d200. I was thinking of getting a d800. My question is what would be the difference in the fx / dx is it just a bigger format.
I like to shoot landscape, nature, my daughter in her high school marching band . Is it worth the big step?

Thanks to all hogs I will take all your helpful ideas all were very good sulution to a potential hazard for me thanks again
Hello, kinda new to my d500 was using a d200 for years. My question is how much rain would you expose the d500 to before I should worry about it being a problem for the camera? I am using sigma lenses and nikkor lenses with it. Last week was a light rain when my daughter was playing in the marching band and I decided not to bring the camera out cause it looked like it was going to rain hard , and it was a light mist instead. So I missed some very good pictures.
Most screens are either removable or can be lifted up and the window still open and close. No hole necessary. Good luck
Thank you for that info I will do that .

Wow, that is some real nice advice. As of your post I'm sorry I afended you. All I was trying to find out is what I might be doing wrong that I am draining the battery within 600 pictures. Yes I do think the camera is a great camera and I would not think to get rid of it. Thanks to uhh I have come up with the solution to the problem. 1. Bigger battery that they sell. 2. Stop viewing the photo on camera so much. With those 2 problems I should be fine.
As for you solution I think you should keep them to yourself yes I do think the old technology is better but I'm sure nikon has a reason why they changed it. I'm sure you don't have the answer to that question so you have a great weekend and please keep your sly remarks to yourself they are not needed here on uhh.
I do not like that I have to take the grip off to change the battery all the time
