I just got a sd-8a battery pack for my sb-800. It was cheap and used, no instructions with it and can't find manual online. My question is it looks like there is a led light on the bottom or a inferred receiver? when is that suppose to come on? When you put batteries in and hook up to flash it all works well but dont know if battery pack is working . Any help would be great thanks.

Simple test - try taking some photos using the SD-8a batteries. Does the flash work as expected? Any evidence of overheating?

I never had much luck getting mine to recycle as fast as I needed it to. So I bought a Quantum battery pack and it worked much better.
