I used a friend's 28-300 in the Galapagos a few months ago. Could not be more pleased with the results. As sharp on my 5d iii as anything I have seen. Loved being able to move from 28 to 300 without changing the lens. The islands are not a good place to change the lens due to wind and sand. The weight was not a factor at all with only hiking an hour per outing. I did decide to buy the 100-400 ii since I have the 16-35 2.8 iii. I will be able to change the lenses in most of the locations I plan to visit. The 28-300 is an older technology, but I think that it is exceptional, even at 300mm. Can't go wrong.
We are on the way to Cornwall in April. These are locations that I will visit based on your excellent photos. Lands End and a performance at the Minach theater are on our list. Thanks for sharing.
Photoshop and lightroom offer excellent watermark possibilities.
Great work. Looks like a capture from NASA.
I like the shot at 38mm. Hard to go wrong with this incredible scene. Great focal point created by the sunlight, leading road and angry clouds. If shot in raw I might consider opening the shadows on the ridge in the back right- maybe in ACR or in PS with a levels adjustment. Just a thought to reduce the amount of dark space. Great shot as is.
Thanks spyderdan, I will try it today!
Spectacular. Just the kind of shots I look for but seldom find. Good eye.
This perfect shot has encouraged me to plan a trip to this park. Very well planned and executed shot.
Great colors! This is print worthy!
I am not yet savy enough to get the Metadata. Can anyone direct me to general instructions? Thanks.
These particular birds are on our short list to break in a new Canon 100-400. May try Padre Island near Corpus Christi. Thanks for the motivation! Hope mine are as beautiful as your shots.
This is the most fun post I have seen in a very long time. Thanks for sharing.
I was in the Galapagos Islands last week, just off the zodiac on the beach. Saw a couple of sea lions fighting and I ran towards them with a 5d and 28-300. Next thing I hear is a 500 pound male sea lion rearing up and shouting at me- I had almost stepped on him. I did hold the camera up as I fell backwards. My back was almost completely healed after a couple of days. Great shots of the fighting sea lions. Whatever it takes to get the shot!
