Perhaps this commentary by J Cristina maybe worth watching. It may not be low cost though.

I bought the 5D Mk IV when it was released in 2015 and loved using it. 5 years on I made the leap and traded it for the R5 in Nov 2020. In my opinion the R5 is a far superior camera and I have no regrets making the change. The AF, resolution and EVF (which I like) and the eye tracking really makes it much easier to get well focused and sharp photos. I think its a no brainer buying the R5. I bought the adapter to use my EF lens. The only downside is the very expensive RF lens. Eventually I will sell my EF lens and migrate to RF lens, perhaps the 28-70, 70-200 for a start. Hope this helps!

excellent lens works really well with my 5D Mk IV and occasionally I use an extension tube to get closer to fill the frame with my subject. It works quite well as a regular 100 mm lens for general photography too.

for me its important that the subject evokes an emotion a memory or tells a story that interests me.

I just bought a refurbished Panasonic HC -WXF1 4K camcorder. It's not the latest of video cameras but it is very clear, has good stabilisation and a host of interesting features for creative video work.

Bob, you've got great suggestions already. One more is to try your hand at "Trick" photography there are some really easy to do and creative photographs you can take at home. For example I recently played around photographing smoke generated by two incense sticks and also photographed strawberries and other small fruit dropped into a small fish tank of water the setup was very simple for both and a lot of fun plus the results were quite good. So there's much more that can be done at home maybe search on you tube for creative ideas for photographing thing near and around you. Good luck with your health and hopefully you will be mobile again very soon

There are tours like the one below, you may like to do some research on the net or contact Australian Photography Magazine and ask for some referrals to photographers or a special interest group.

You're right! But IBIS will come to Canon, eventually. As I said, when Canon brings out a really good MILC , though not sure when, I will probably make a move from my DSLR. I guess IBIS is more important for video.

Canon's Lens based image stabilisation working with IBIS is a challenge, but for still photography it's Dual Pixel AF and IS is outstanding.

Thanks emmons267 I learnt something today thanks to your link to the Adobe tutorial on video editing. I use Corel's Video Studio Ultimate 2019 but Photoshop looks a lot easier to use.

I too use both a Canon 5D MK IV and a M50 with both EF lens & EF-M lens and also own a speed booster/ focal reducer. The biggest advantage I see with my M50 is its size with it's native lens and the EVF, whereas the 5D Mk IV is far more balanced in my hands when my heavier bulky lens are attached and that helps with stability when shooting handheld. I miss having a fully articulated LCD on my 5D Mk IV and if there is a Mk V I hope its one of the improvements Canon will consider. The big question is will a Canon mirrorless equivalent to the 5D Mk IV/V be good enough to make the leap to go fully mirrorless. There are very good MILC's but not "perfect" offerings from other brands like Sony. As a Canon shooter I, like many, are heavily invested in the Canon Eco system to readily make a change to another brand. So I wait like you!
