Take the fairly short and easy hike at Mt. Rushmore which takes you closer to the mountain and there is an opportunity to get a shot of one of the faces through a crack in rocks along the trail. Definitely agree with the Devil's Tower, Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Road, Crazy Horse, Spearfish Canyon and Badlands National Park. Sylvan Lake and Needles Highway are also great photo ops. I am a native of the area.

Thanks for the quick response and information. Do you have to separately identify each peice of equipment and value?

Have you had any claims and was it a hassle?

With my insurance, listing the equipment individually allowed me to collect the cost of the lens that I had come up missing. They said if I had not listed the equipment individually, I would not have been able to collect full coverage on the lens. It is with my homeowners, but my camera gear and computers are listed individually. When I buy something, I make a copy of the invoice with serial number etc and submit it to the insurance company and they will charge accordingly for the addition. I was very pleased with the experience of my first loss. The only thing they requested was that if the lens was ever found, they would like to have it. I was surprised they covered it. They called it a "Mysterious Disappearance." I hesitated for a while to even call the insurance company, but they were very helpful and agreeable. Long story on how or where it disappeared, so will spare readers the agony of that.

Hmm this 1 is close to home , nice shot . My family has lived in and around Rochford for well over a 100 years and my Grandfather was the last care taker for the mine back in the 30's . There were fatality's at the mine as with most mines but the last 1 was in the 60's when some airmen from Ellsworth decided to investigate the shaft , unfortunately they trespassed and the rope they used was to short and 1 plunged to his death . There is still gold ore on the property but tends to be in high grade pockets which many mining ventures have tried to connect to make it a going concern but alas the bigger company's need to make millions to make it worth while . Just a side note there is local opposition to the current search ( not in my backyard attitude ) but nobody wants to live in a tepee . By this I mean your everyday lives depend on mining , there is gold in your computer , phones , camera's , Tv's , not to mention the foundations , nails , and the wiring of your homes are mining products and lets not forget the metal in all vehicle's that give us transportation , just something to think about .

Growing up in the Black Hills, there were two things our parents warned us about. One was forest fires and the other was MINE HOLES. Being airmen from somewhere else, they didn't have that warning. I remember once when I was in high school we were exploring an old tunnel and one of the boys fell in a hole because we didn't have decent flashlights. Fortunately it wasn't very deep and we were able to get him out with a ladder we got from one of the kid's homes. Never told our parents and figured out why our parents had been warning us about old mines all those years. Never did that again. Fortunately, most of the dangerous abandoned mines have now been made in-accessible or filled in if it was an open hole.

keep out signs don't work, most of the time anyways......

Exactly!! That is why it was torn down because people didn't obey the signs.

I loved photographing the Standby. It was a shame it deteriorated to that point. It would have been great if it could have been restored, but I suppose costs would have been prohibitive. However people kept entering it and it was a liability issue. Part of Black Hills history that is gone along with many more historic sites.

Graduated from high school in '57. Good year! Always liked the '57 chevy, but my parents gave me their '51 when I was a senior in college. Like the fisheye approach.

DK, go to <trailcamprop.com> and get a trail camera. I have a Browning Strike Force Pro XD for under $200. Now I get my first bobcats, fox, coyotes, birds, and cougar. When you know when and where it makes it a lot easier.

I also have a Moultrie 9991 that I bought in 2016. I don't like it as much as the Browning.

Go to my page on trail cameras - 2016 - Moultrie 999i trail camera - and you'll see other trail camera photos. These are to help find animals to take with my Canon and Lumix cameras.

I have a trail cam, but it is so rare to see one and never in the same place. Usually miles from where I saw another one, it would be difficult to know where to put it. Thanks for the info though. We use them for deer frequently.

I wouldn't have been nice at all in that circumstance. When I was a photojournalist i occasionally pushed rude people out of my way to get a crucial shot. You were lucky to get the great shots you did. I have seen very few bobcats in the wild and never got a shot of any of them.

I have Photos on my I Phone and Photos on my Mac Book Pro and Mac Book Air has the older photo program. My photos automatically transfer from I Phone Photos to Mac Book Pro Photos every time both are connected to the internet. No cords or connections necessary. I am technologically challenged, so if it works why go to all that trouble with other apps. The charging cord for the phone can be used to load photos too. Sorry I know nothing about PCs and my family thinks my Macs are complicated. I couldn't operate a PC. Lol

I travel quite a bit and I found the Apple Mac Air to work great. I am sure you can find a Mac Air 11" used at OWC. Since you are already using Mac software, it makes sense to check the Mac Air 11" (a full-computer, very small, thin and light).

I was hoping someone would come up with the Mac Book Air. I absolutely love it for travel. I upload every night and then also save photos on flash drives and store them in two different places. That way I have two choices and the Mac Book Air is a great computer. I also save everything on my memory cards as well.

I have a Bella and a Proctor Silex which use K cups. I keep one for K cups and one for ground coffee so I don't have to switch baskets. Together they cost considerably less than a Keurig and they have outlasted 7 or 8 Keurigs that have failed for family members. I think the secret is that you just put water measured in whatever size cup you want to use and they don't store water. We just bought a Bella for our vacation home after the Keurig failed when someone left water in it between visits.

Google The Rainbow Bridge. It is about how animals cross over The Rainbow Bridge and wait for us. A vet game me a copy when I had a pet put down. It has meant a lot over the years.

My wife and I both use Epson projectors for presentations. Can't say enough good things about them. https://epson.com/projectors-and-displays

I also use an Epson projector. At the time I bought it, it was rated highly and I have been very happy with it. It is several years old, so that model is probably not available anymore, but I assume they still put out good quality projectors

Adorable. I would have taken her in too under protest from my adult felines who would be extremely jealous. I love striped kitties, but they have all passed over the rainbow bridge. Hopefully she will steal your heart and you can't help but keep her.
