It's not fast speaking, rather it is concise and specific. If you listen closely you will hear all ATC instructions and clearances are ALWAYS repeated by the pilot back to ATC. And yes. foreign English speakers sometimes have communication difficulties.
Sorry, sentence should read "absence of logic."
Why should I or anyone else have to give up travel because of an occasional nut? Sorry but there is an absence of logical in your reasoning.
Hello. The SGT in your photo is NOT Airborne qualified. The silver wings he wears has a helicopter in the center, not a parachute. This indicates he is "Air Assault" qualified. He is trained to leap from helicopters (close to the ground) but not from an aircraft at altitude with a parachute.
I recently lost my left leg (amputated 5/22/19), fifty years after being shot in Vietnam. I will be getting a "new leg" from the VA next month, and am now driving with a handicap placard. Last week, I went to the bank and a car was just pulling into the "reserved for handicap" parking spot. I opened my window and asked the driver if he was disabled. He said, "no, but I'll only be a minute." Ignored me and went into the bank. I pulled my car directly behind his, blocking him in. He had no way out, called the police and went into the bank with my walker. I spotted the police who parked his patrol car behind me. The officer came up to me (the bank manager pointed me out,) and after explaining what I had done, the officer suggested I take my sweet time in the bank as he was going to take his sweet time writing tickets and checking out the other car for possible violations. I spent more than 30 minutes in the bank (on purpose) and both the officer and I enjoyed the coffee the bank gave us. The other driver, well, he received three tickets, and never said a word to me. The officer's comment to me was, "f..k him." Gotta love the justice.
Just beautiful captures. Thank you.
Very nice. Really captures the vastness of the landscape.
Really nice. Congratulations.
Great picture! A real "wall hanger."
great pictures of a wonderful event!
As the son of Holocaust survivors, being born in a displaced persons' camp, and a Vietnam Veteran, this is the America that my family and I grew up in. The John Wayne, etc. made me proud again. Thanks for bringing it to us. A great reminder.
Cell phones aboard aircraft do not interfere with any navigation or communication equipment. They do, however, tie up multiple cell towers. A commercial jet traveling at 500 MPH covers more than 8 miles per minute, and at 35,000 feet would contact at least a dozen cell towers every 5 minutes. Multiple that by 4,000 flights every hour times an average of 100 passengers per flight and you have virtually every cell tower being used. A needless tie up of cell towers without any revenue to the cell phone companies.
[quote=katu41]Thanks to many of you for viewing and commenting on my recent posts of black and white photographs. I recently reviewed old files in my Lightroom library and picked images that I thought had potential for B&W. Here are a few more examples:
1. Naples Church This shot from 2014 was of a church on the main square in Naples, Italy. While I felt the color image was pretty good, I was really surprised by the conversion to B&W. Shot with a Canon 5D II with a 24-105 L lens.
2. Naples Galleria: This photo was shot a few minutes before No. 1. This is in a shopping mall (Not sure what the original use of the building was when built.) The geometry of the building speaks for itself.
3. Valencia, Spain: The City of Arts and Science in Valencia is one of the most unusual places I have ever visited. The scale of the buildings is unbelievable and the architecture is absolute world class. I will post more from here in the coming weeks.
While the color processing of these 3 shots seemed to work well, I thought they also landed themselves to B&W. Your comments are greatly appreciated.[/quo
Your photos are lovely. I am very impressed with the wide angle lack of distortion in the first and third pictures. Very nicely done.
