Check the state department recommendations on travel to Kenya and Tanzania. You will need Yellow Fever, Typhoid and prophylaxis for malaria. But make sure ALL your vaccinations, including Hepatitis A and B, are up to date. For malaria prophylaxis you will need a prescription from your doctor.

I struggled to get the Kenya Visa for our trip last Feb. It seemed that the Kenya website just closes down when it comes to accepting payments. With perseverance, I finally got it online through the Kenya government site. I just kept trying until it went through. When we got to Nairobi, the lines where people bought their visas in Kenya went faster than those who were processing those who had visas in hand. There were far more people getting the visas in Kenya, and they were in their taxis before we got through the passport line.

Great trip. Have fun.

Hi Interesting info. I have been trying to get my visa for Kenya and am having a heck of a time getting info. Now I'm wondering if I should get it here or get it there?! hmmmmmmm!

Will also be heading that way in August. Just went through the vaccine stuff with "Passport Health". Had 4 in all and Yellow Fever WAS recommended.

Still trying to get the Kenya visas straight! How's it going with you?

I've never been there before and am having a problem deciding exactly what equipment to take. If anyone can help, please do. (Weight IS a consideration!)

My current plan is a Nikon D500 (For close-up crop) with a Tamron 150-600mm lens - distance shots of animals. I can carry a 1.4 tele as well, but will I need it?
Also plan to carry a D750 for "walk-around" and, otherwise "normal" shooting. With the 750, I am torn between the Nikkor 24-70mm 2.8 or 24-120mm.
In addition to Kenya, we are going to Victoria Falls. I have a Nikkor 14-24mm 2.8 and a 16-80mm. Will I need the wide angle there?

Thanks for any insight.

I had the same problem deciding which strap to buy! I ended up with the BlackRapid Sport and absolutely love it! Went on a 5 day cruise in the South Pacific and carrying my D750 with the 24-70mm Nikon was no problem! I wish they made more stuff. Spend the money. You'll be glad you did!

Jerry,

(My 2 cents :) ) If the computer is turning itself on from a full shutdown, I wouldn't think that the problem is software related (viruses, processes, services, et. al.). My attention would go to the power supply, one of the least expensive things to change out. I'm betting that you don't turn off the power switch itself but just let the computer "shut down"?

Just a thought...

Neither flash will power up on or off camera now or only when connected with the SC-29 cable, if it's only when the cable is attached try commander mode with the D800 and see what happens. If the D800 is experiencing weird problems then I would imagine the power supply or main board in the camera may be suspect. Worth a call to Nikon come Monday. (1-800-645-6687) 9AM-8PM EST, Monday through Friday.

If NEITHER flash will power up on or OFF the camera, the problem is with the flash units! I have an 800 I use with Nikon's Speedlight system and have not experienced any problems.

Off the cuff I'd say battery problems or capacitor problems. Hard to believe you'd have capacitor problems in two devices though!

Quit using Explorer! Use Firefox! Explorer allows third party spyware to enter your computer while browsing the web!

Again...Helen has offered to help! Take her up on that and quit bellyaching! (Personally I don't shop Adorama as they are too pushy... I exclusively shop B&H!)

Gotta get the trinity! The 70-200 completes the focal range the normal photographer uses. Excellent lens! Great for birding in the garden!
