Cool shot!! I owned several - wonderful cars: GM has (in work) a 2024/25 70/SS retro-model that will be available with HP ranging from approx. 500 to 1500HP, sadly a limited production run and a cost of $150K +, out of my league - I restored my own 69 and 72 models (among others), when I was younger, doing the body/paint/interior/and all mechanical work myself.....if only I had kept them!!!

I am lucky to have my deck close to a pond rookery. It allows my old self to capture candid exposures and not getting wet. My bones are grateful! I can get within about 3 meters of this spot.

Very nice shot, really shows the subject, conditions and the birds general unhappiness with same!!!!

If you have your face stuck up to the computer screen and have the image enlarged (sometimes greatly enlarged), you can find fault with most any photo, regardless of equipment used (Pixel Peeping).... Almost any camera/lens combo used properly, focused and properly exposed will yield fine photos viewed at normal distances (unless it's just plain junk gear and/or horrible technique). As several others have noted, "eye of the beholder", modern scanning of old images, etc. etc..... "sharp" is a perception of the finished product, and can be impacted/interpreted from a number of standpoints/viewpoints. I think "billboard photos" are a great example, up close they look horrible, but from normal viewing distance they can look very sharp...............................

I think for any number circumstances relative sharpness is a variable.....that can be used to your advantage, or not.

This is the "new" Walt Disney, a world that would disgust him if he was still here. The "woke" society would be abhorrent to this nation's moral founders, it is the opposite of everything they stood for and admired. Today the "woke" society calls good evil and evil good.

If WOKE means an awareness of the t***h of our history (what has actually happened versus attempts to whitewash and hide/forget what has been done), I seriously doubt that the "Moral Founders" would agree with those statement. I cannot fathom them writing/signing great documents like the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, etc.

I took my nine year old granddaughter to see Barbie on Saturday. About a third of the way in, I started to realize that this movie was not for kids. It was extremely woke and dark at times, but it was also funny in spots. It is making alot of money, but it is sad that this is what Hollywood has become today.

Not trying to start anything, but to use "Woke" is an odd way to describe it (I have not seen the movie) to me the term "woke" describes being aware of the t***h/ways of the world/real history, not rewritten history to downplay things that really did/have happened..... I know it is a highly populized and often misused term by some parties (it is very misused here in Florida, by our gov), but to me it means an awareness of reality.

It will only get better - the max of this solar cycle (which occurs every 11 years) is July, 2025, after which it will slowly decline to a minimum such as we experienced in 2020. If I live to see this upcoming max in 2025, I’ll be 79+, so it could easily be my last one.

Good DX to you

This is my forth cycle as a serious DX radio guy (some of that was back in my shortwave, maritime & 11m days)...let's hope we all live thru this entire cycle at minimum - LOL (I'm a young whipersnapper I'll be 75) and wish you well in the journey...73's, good DX and many happy qso's de kg4gdk

These things give me such a feeling of insignificance in the scheme of the universe. Is it plausible that the whole of Earths atmosphere could be swept away by a mass ejection event at some time?

Talk about a buzzkill!!!! That would be a bad hair day indeed - there are always disaster potentials, and others (asteroids/supervolcanos/nuclear war/bigger plague/etc). We only have "recorded history" and fosil records/etc. no telling how many civilizations could have risen and disappeared over the millions/billions of years the planet has been here......

The uptick towards the solar maximum has the Ham Radio (and other radio junkies) enjoying worldwide "skip talk" communications (AM/FM/SSB/various other methods), over the last few months I've had extended talk sessions/roundtables/group discussions with operators all over the globe. Even the CB guys/gals are in on it, as even very modest equipment "rocks" during these Solar Cycles. I've been enjoying extended sessions with other hams all over; the UK, Europe, Scandinavia, Africa, Australia/New Zealand/Tasmania, Asia, all of North and South America, Islands everywhere, Antartica, you name em, just about everywhere!! If you are into the hobby as a listener or communicator (HAM/Shortwave/Maritime/etc) this is a "magic moment" in time for us radio junkies....as long as "non damaging" gotta love the solar activity!!

Enjoy!

They work very hard to make things difficult. With my new arrangement, I was supposed to receive a faster modem and a DVR. After almost two weeks, I've received nothing, so I called.

Nothing has been sent, but the modem will be sent today. As for the DVR, that's almost funny. Although I'm being charged $4.99 a month for Cloud DVR, it's virtually worthless, so I dropped that. If I want a DVR from Spectrum, I'd have to pay $10.99 a month rental plus $12.99 a month for service, plus tax, of course. That would be close to $300 a year to record TV. I declined that offer.

I asked about using my own DVR. She was uncertain, but she thought the $12.99 monthly service fee would still be charged. After half an hour on the phone, I saved $5.00+ a month, and I'm getting a modem.

Looking on Amazon, I don't see regular, name brand DVRs. What happened? There are over-the-air recorders and security recorders from companies I never heard of.
They work very hard to make things difficult. Wit... (show quote)

Jerry, if you use your own DVR how would they even know you are using it....... and no, there should be no DVR fee of any sort. With several hundred channels of stuff that is played over and over and over, I can't imagine the need for a DVR (but that's just me).
We have had Spectrum for years (after Brighthouse, who were a little better at customer service) and I can agree with them being "Charge Happy" for everything, and for legacy customers (Brighthouse to Spectrum) trying to reduce cost/cancel services/downgrade to save money on all the stuff I don't need requires quiting their service for a month, then purchasing new. Since I live just far enough into the country to be service provider limited....they must feel they have us over the barrel. Not for long if I can help it........

The infatuation with the explorers is always expected - even though their risks are their own, even if the adventure is foolhardy and extremely dangerous for very questionable reward, paying 250K to ride in a cramped "tin can" (I know it was a composite vehicle) down into total darkness for a crappy view thru a small porthole of a small lighted area - in a situation where there are countless items that could snag your sub/or you risk that ever present threat of the implosion because you at or beyond the depth limitations of the sub........easily accomplished with same views by an unmanned drone sub.

Sadly......while in the same time frame a boat carrying hundreds of migrants went under with well over 500 missing & presumed drowned, possibly entire families.....hardly even mentioned/covered by the media... .. ..

I do find it sad that the one young man didn't want to go/was fearful (rightly so), but was egged into it by his father (according to family statements I read somewhere)... bad choices.

I've had D7100 and D7200 for some time, I did sell my D7200 (for financial reasons, nothing to do with the camera, it was/is an excellent camera - and my D7100 has a bad card slot, limiting value) and still shoot regularly with the D7100. I'm sure the D7500 is also top-notch, so either choice would be fine - Pro's would probably take the D7200 due to higher resolution and dual card slot, but that is just my opinion. They all worked fine with my collection of old to new lenses, Nikon and otherwise. In general I think any in the series are winners, if you can't take fine photos with one in that series it is probably user error 98% of the time (or some factor beyond the body).
