And only 2 digits for the price - so 99.9 cents/gallon max.
Bring back the old pumps LOL!

My first car was a '65 Corvair with 4-speed manual transmission in the early '70s.
I learned to use a stick on my ride home from buying it — took me a hour to go a mile or two but by the end I was shifting pretty well.

We took it on a road trip from Chicago to LA and back with no problems.
By '65 they had fixed the swing axels or whatever so the roll-over issue was much better and I never felt in any danger of roll-over. Loved that car.

Ralph Nader can be a bit pompous, and he was wrong about the Corvair or at least never acknowledged that they had fixed it (although the brakes we always not the best). But he has done more for consumer protection and uncovering government corruption than anyone that I know of. I love Ralph (but he is far from perfect, like all of us).

A well-healed thief would probably recognize a pricey camera by its shape.

Hmm, they'd say, Leica first if it's a good one, but that "unmarked" one must be valuable or it wouldn't be disguised!

My first job as a photographer was doing church portraits of families.
On my first day I had literally no experience shooting portraits, you'll do fine.

Your lens is a good size, 85 is good for portraits or longer if you want to be further away.

Yes, look online about lighting, We used strobes, 2 at about 45 degrees from subject and 1 to light the background. A rimlight above for their hair is nice, too.

A co-worker likes to use steady-light softboxes like yours, but about 3 feet tall, if they are big enough they should be bright enough.

I like to focus manually, on the eyes, zoomed in on back screen. And bracket to get best exposure for different skin tones.

Really, 90% of portrait work is making the subject feel confident, relaxed, chin up and talk to them, make them genuinely smile.

But buy the new lens anyway if you want one!

I'd say because kids learn written grammar in school, but not pronunciation.
The get corrected on their schoolwork if they write "a apple", but "the apple" is not mentioned in written grammar.
I never encountered it in school. Maybe if I took an oration class, but I didn't.

I do say "thee" apple but only because my parents did.

I thought the Britts went on Holiday, not on Vacation ... why don't they call it a "Holistay" LOL?

Here in California, we had ads to have a Staycation by staying in the golden state.
Humph, well if that works I guess it would work for all of UK, which is smaller than Cali.

If I'm on Staycation I don't leave the back yard!

Ha, you got it. I was going to say do it on the 4th and no one will notice yours!

For really old firearms, it is advised to fire them first on a test bench with a string just in case.
Maybe a heavy glove and safety goggles on the river?

My mom had a matching pair of huge framed Keane prints hanging in our entrance stairway.
They were beautiful, intricate, whimsical, and strangely haunting.

adieu. If there is a heaven, mom is yakking it up with Margaret right now.

AFAIK fuel cells are pretty good already.
The big issue is storing the hydrogen, and lack of refueling depots.

I read that they are developing hydrogen batteries for cars.
They will store the hydrogen safely and without high-pressure using water.
That will then run the fuel cells.
Can't find the link I am looking for, but this is similar and working now for houses

Once I forgot that I had a tiny Swiss Army 1" keychain pocketknife in my bag.
(OK, I always have it, usually in my pocket with my keys. I have had to surrender 2 of them at various times whenI forgot.)

They pulled me aside and said that they were trying out "new edge detection technology" and needed to go thru my bag to find it.

Out came camera, lenses, some extra clothes. They couldn't find the knife.
I told them it was too tiny to matter and offered to show them where it was and they yelled at me stand back and shut up!

They put it thru the scanning machine again, alarm went off again, everything out of bag again.
They did it all 3 times, never found the knife, and then just sent me thru the gate knife and all.

By then I had missed my flight, had to re-book the next day, and missed the first day of my assignment.

Another time, outside the security gate, 4 marshals with rifles came running after me and confiscated my disposable camera with all my vacation pics on it.

They said I had photographed their secure area.
I had taken a photo of a pretty sloop sailboat they had on display in front of the gate, I guess the secure area was in the background, maybe.
Either way, they had no right, but I wasn't going to argue with 4 rifles.

No, TSA does not make me feel safe at all.
