I need a bag and have essentially the same lenses but a d810. Do you find the over the shoulder to be a hassle? Do you have to set it down every time you set up a shot? What are it’s dimensions?

11.5 X 6 X 8 (LWH).
The double top annoys me sometimes but I try to remember it's a double layer of protection when it does. The way the cap covers the zipper means no dirt or sand gets into the interior.
No, the shoulder strap is just another of its virtues when I'm carrying too much, like having a third hand. It also can easily be folded up and stashed so it's always available if I want it off for some reason.
I like it enough I'm about to buy a third one for my Pentax set.

I had a couple of germanium diode radios that required no batteries. There was a wire with an alligator clip to attach to something metal for an antenna. My grandma's pant stretchers hung from a tree limb worked great.

I use an Amazon Basics bag. Holds my D300, three lenses (18-55,55-200,35-105), hood for 55-200, manual, extra battery, remote release, extra memory chip, charger and cords, camera to USB and a couple of other things.

Works for me and it's $26.

They have a slightly smaller one that might be perfect for your P1000

I’m ok with whatever mythology you choose as long as you don’t try to foist it on me. I believe this post is about cameras. Let’s keep it that way.

Can I get an AMEN!

PS I just want to go where my dogs went. All my dogs were a heck of a lot better to be around than most of the people I've known.

This a new peeve for me. I was trying to watch a video on learning GIMP. The kid kept going on and on about GIMP's antialiasing (AntiahlIahsing) capability. Does alias (AlEus) have a new pronunciation because it's anti? Couldn't seem to learn anything from him because every time he mispronounced alias I thought he was a moron.
My wife says I'm just grumpy.

I recently presented a beginners workshop on photography, stressing only very basic fundamentals such as light, subject and some composition pointers. I'd like to follow-up by sending them some links to very basic editing tools that are free and easy to use for beginners who are most likely to shoot jpg only. Any suggestions? I started editing my photos with Picasa years years ago then transitioned to the more sophisticated (and difficult to learn) Lightroom. It's not for beginners.

I've used Irfanview since I was taking photos with an early Coolpix and I still like it. Still free, too.

Nuway Hamburgers on West Douglas in Wichita, KS. Get your Nuway with a cup of chili and a mug of homemade root beer. Opened in 1927 and still the best place in town.

I lived in the PNW for 28 years and camped out a lot. Every tent I ever used in the rain would leak through if the tent touched the rain fly. The problem is you have water on both sides. The rain soaks through the rain fly and the interior of the tent gets soaked with condensation from your breath. When the two surfaces touch the water is conducted between them. About the only thing you can do on the Olympic Peninsula is camp in Sequim. :-}
Good luck

If it's a thread on hood; I have an aftermarket hood that mounts this, can you put the hood on first?

I'll recommend to the low end since that's where finances force me to shop.
I bought a D300 last year from KEH in EX+ condition for $138. It is absolutely beautiful and far and away more camera than I am photographer. When I asked for advice on my first auto focus lens Hoggers recommended the 18-55 kit lens. Going for EX rated it set me back $79. I added a 55-200 for about the same and then an older micro 35-105, again in EX, for less than $40, gives me some macro capability although that function is not auto focus. This is all very nice equipment for a pittance. I can pick up a lens or two in the future or keep saving for the D500 I see out there on the horizon.
So there's the view from the bottom end.
Whatever you decide, have fun with your photography.

He has, as my Grandmother used to say, more ideas than Carter has pills.
Get an enlarger lens and turn it around. If you really want to go for bigger than 1:1 get an adapter and put on a 10 power microscope lens.

B-50????

The B-50 was actually the B-29D. Boeing and the Air Force didn't think they could sell Congress on a new model of the -29 with all the aircraft left over from the war even with some significant changes to the aircraft. The principal differences were Pratt and Whitney engines 4360 28 cylinder "Corncob" engines instead of Curtiss Wright 3350's , a much taller vertical tail (with a hinged tip so the aircraft could fit in existing hangars and a new aluminum alloy just coming online; -29's were made of 24 ST (now known as 2024-T3), The -50's were 7075-T6. I might be wrong about this one but I think the -50's also had the Silverplate option built in rather than retrofitted. Silverplate was the ability to load up the large Fatman atomic bombs of the era.

As you are learning to fly always remember that there are three things you must never be without; Airspeed, altitude, and ideas. In other words, nothing is more worthless than the runway behind you, the altitude above you or the fuel you left in the truck. Good luck. If you ever get to southeastern Kansas drop in at 18KS. My back yard is the east runup area for 35.

I went to a monster truck event at the Kingdome in Seattle about twenty years ago. Great fun but I was almost knocked down by the noxious fumes. If I was to go again to an indoor arena I'd wear a respirator with the best carbon filters money could buy. Combined with all the wood smoke in the air breathing that mess really could be hazardous to your health.
