If it is sent to you UPS, you can refuse delivery, don't open the box just tell the driver to refuse it, no charge to you and then you can get a full refund from the fast talker, if they give you the run around dispute the charges on your CC, and its best to deal with good companies like B&H or Adorama

The Tamron was $99.00 more! I don't know how I got talked into it. He was a fast talker. He gave me some negative line abt. the Canon, but I think the Canon was falsely advertised.
I may try to send it back if I'm not happy with it. I will research what other dealers sell it for and I will read some reviews.
I initially thought I was getting the Canon for a steal (which it would have been). Thanks for your advice, everyone.

I'll make sure to get some next time I see one, LOL , I had the unfortunate meeting w/one in my deerstand @5A.M. not very enjoyable, he unfortunately didn't survive the fall, and neither did my thermos of coffee.

I want some quills! I have never understood why people think getting quills requires injury to the porcupine. All you have to do is toss an old towel, shirt, burlap bag, or whatever is handy onto them and let them walk out from under it. Generally speaking it doesn't even annoy them very much.

agree nice photos, they tell a story, albeit a tale of addiction.

Ian,

These are the types of photographs i really like. I love people shots where the people are at extremes -- Beautiful and/or weathered. Congrats on getting the man to allow you to shoot him and the nice shot!

heres how to justify buying a 7D, I also started out w/T2I and after shooting off=road racing for a full season and having to deal with the dust in a non sealed camera, the choice was clear, I got my 70-200 2.8L for x-mas and the 7D came along last month, the 8 frames per second are the bomb if you shot action. I got a refurb one from Canon, traded in a old Canon P&S and it cost me $1187 for the 7D, its weighty compaired to the T2I but also the controls will blow your mind. There will be a huge learning curve to learn the controls but don't let it stop you, It is definately worth the pain.

After reading several of the nit-picky posts in here I find it regrettable that MWAC can't keep/ban some Anal-Retentive people out of/from this thread.

thanks for the tip, one of the other photographers always has a flash on, never put it together till you said it, I've got a 430ex and I'll give it a try, this weekend was just practice and a good opportunity to get used to trucks coming real close to you, little nerve racking at first.

thanks for the encouragement, this was my first time on the track itself, always shot from behind the fences, I have my media license this year and will get plenty of practice throughout the summer, the real challenge will be fighting for positions w/the other photographers, and catching the pro drivers, this was a sportsman event low horsepower not super fast, the pros have 800-900 horsepower and come into this corner at 90mph.

Great stop action shots, eglide, get yourself a good flash unit and it will add a lot to the contrast and color pop of your shots. I shoot with a Promaster 7500EDF, now, that is rated at 86 feet. I got it for birds at the Metropark here in NEO.

I notice you are on the shaded side of the vehicles, I used to shoot at a drag strip (back in the 70's and 80's) here in Ohio and shot with a flash even in the daytime. Shadows are everywhere and if you want to sell the photo or have someone at a motorsports magazine notice them, you need to light them up on the shadow side of the car, too.

There is a big market for action shots of racecars (mostly with the drivers and pit crew). Sometimes local newspapers will buy them, too. I used to sell 75-100 31/2 x 5 photos a week, to the racers, plus enlargements.
