I saw this little fellow in my drive last night and he was so cute too bad he isn't cuddely. This porcupine was afraid of me at first but as I talked to him he calmed down and posed for me. I love it here in Alaska!

I want some quills! I have never understood why people think getting quills requires injury to the porcupine. All you have to do is toss an old towel, shirt, burlap bag, or whatever is handy onto them and let them walk out from under it. Generally speaking it doesn't even annoy them very much.

It's easier than that, just drive down any road in Alaska and you can find piles of quills.

I hate hearing that lol. They're really pretty nice little guys. Unless you do something to really provoke them and then corner them to boot, they don't bother a soul. I'd love to have some quills for quill needlework, but all we have down here is wild pigs and armadillos!

I'll make sure to get some next time I see one, LOL , I had the unfortunate meeting w/one in my deerstand @5A.M. not very enjoyable, he unfortunately didn't survive the fall, and neither did my thermos of coffee.

Yikes! Yeah, I can see that being a somewhat disconcerting wakeup call for both of you! And losing the coffee....NOT acceptable LOL!
