Drive Savers is the trusted resource the folks at the Apple Genius Bar recommend for such problems. Not inexpensive, but they do get the job done.

I've been using Big Sur on my 2013 MBP since the beta program began.
Never a problem!
I submit that it's not Apple but possibly Adobe and its catalog/library management that requires a relink.
Please, this ought not be a space for flaming comments or arguments.

I'd suggest that for slightly more than you're considering paying to upgrade a 2012 MBP, the new M1 MacBook Air will give you a far more satisfying experience! Or for less money, the M1 MacMini and a good HDMI monitor (calibrated) and your own keyboard and mouse will do the same.
However, best bang-for-buck sits at M1 MacBook Air. Check the reviews and see if what I'm writing makes sense.

When this happened to me on a previous install, I restarted and then proceeded.
If that doesn't help, it's a good time to contact Apple Support, 800 275-2273.
In fact, that's why you use a Mac, for the outstanding free technical support!

My 2013 15" MBP has been updating Big Sur betas since I had the option. Each version brings bug fixes and improvements.
I expect to be updating my 2019 16" MBP from Catalina to Big Sur very soon, but am in the midst of a major documentary film project and . . . well, never update in the middle of a big project.
That said (written), my 2013 MBP performs better than before the update, so, no fear.
But, I always do a TimeMachine backup before each OS update, just in case.

I forgot to mention that you'll need a more expensive XQD memory card and reader (or direct USB connection to move your images). That said (okay, written) it's still an awesome piece of photographic equipment.

When the Z6 was introduced more than a year ago, I jumped on it at full-price with the FTZ adapter and 24-70 f4 lens. I'd started with the D1x in 2001 and have owned and used in professional work the D2h, D2x, D700 and D750.
I also produce video content and every feature except one in the Z6 exceeds my expectations for user-interface, quality stills and 4k video, both internally recorded and to an Atomos Ninja Assassin recorder via HDMI.
My only disappointment is the fact that my Nikkor 105 2.8micro lens, lacking an internal motor, will not auto-focus attached to the FTZ adapter. Someday, I hope to replace that excellent lens with the S version as well as the new 70-200 2.8.
I considered the Z7, but found the higher clean ISO capability and outstanding video as the reasons to buy Z6. Since then, the price has dropped and more lenses have been released. No regrets, here.

Straight, uncompromising response - No, CS6 stopped working when I upgraded to Catalina.
Painful, but true.
I've held one of my older Macs back from MacOS updates just so I could keep my old CS6.
I'm considering trying to partition my new 16" MBP (when it arrives next week) to permit running Mojave. What's the worst that can happen?
I just hate renting my software.

Before you "pull the trigger," I recommend checking your local Apple Store to learn when their "Today at Apple" sessions are offered for Product Skills Mac Part 1 and Part 2 – each 90-minute free session will give you an idea how to use the Mac and navigate the Mac interface, productivity and organizational capabilities to be more efficient and get more done with less effort. I am an Apple Creative and I'm one of the team of certified Apple Trainers at all Apple Stores throughout the world whose mission is to bring the magic of our products to our users. You can find sessions available (although during our holiday hours, sessions are not as frequent), at apple.com/today or on your iOS device using the Apple Store App and tapping the Sessions tab at the bottom center of the screen.
While we do our demo training on Mac notebooks, the MacOS is the same and the interface is the same. The only difference is the form-factor of the device you're using.
While at the store, you can certainly play with all the Macs and explore for yourself.
Additionally, I highly recommend buying AppleCare+ to protect your investment and give you three years of unlimited toll-free 24/7 technical and "how-to" support for the hardware, MacOS and built-in Apple software from the comfort of your home or office.
And, one more thing: get an external hard drive, any drive with at least a two-year warranty and more capacity than what you're including inside your new Mac, to be your TimeMachine backup. The nice folks at the Apple Store or at Apple Support can walk you through the process of setting it up and using it to backup and protect all your data, including your images and videos.
I spent the entire day today at my store, delivering training for Apple Watch, iPhone and Mac and now, it's time to turn out the lights, readying myself for another stimulating day tomorrow helping our customers "discover the magic."
Good luck and remember, "once you go Mac, you'll never go back!"
Please, no flaming. If you love yours and hate mine, don't bother sharing. Just move on . . .
