Has anyone upgraded to the new OS for the iMac's? If so, has anyone encountered any problems? last question, does anyone know if this new OS Big Sur is compatible with ON1 Photo Raw 2021? I don't want to initiate the download until I can determine if it is compatible with ON1 Photo Raw 2021, as that is my main PP software.

I realize I can contact the developer for an answer, but thought someone on this forum my be knowledgeable in this regard.

Thanks for anyone that can answer these questions.

Roger

This was just released today so there won’t be a lot of answers yet. I have been checking websites that discuss the Beta OS but have not read anything about your applications performance.
I would refer back to rule #1 - 'When the software is upgraded, wait a month or so before jumping in.’ - The bugs will be exposed and most probably corrected by then.
Rule # 2 says - ‘Just because its new & free doesn’t mean I have to have it’ -

My rule #1 is if it aint broke, dont fix it.
I speak from previous experience.

There have been problems with this roll out; it had my system totally locked up yesterday (failure to install) and it took me a few hours to get running again on the original Catalina OS. Late yesterday there were claims that the problems had been solved but personally I'm going to wait a week or so and check to see if things are truely resolved. Can't help with the other details; as said I'm still on Catalina for now.

I've not seen any BIG! MAJOR! improvements since El Capitan.
You need a waay better metal card to run Mojave and get benefits- from the card.
Anything above HiSierra does not seem to impress me with innovations, just obsolescence.

My 2013 15" MBP has been updating Big Sur betas since I had the option. Each version brings bug fixes and improvements.
I expect to be updating my 2019 16" MBP from Catalina to Big Sur very soon, but am in the midst of a major documentary film project and . . . well, never update in the middle of a big project.
That said (written), my 2013 MBP performs better than before the update, so, no fear.
But, I always do a TimeMachine backup before each OS update, just in case.

When this happened to me on a previous install, I restarted and then proceeded.
If that doesn't help, it's a good time to contact Apple Support, 800 275-2273.
In fact, that's why you use a Mac, for the outstanding free technical support!

I do so agree. We still run High Sierra on our 3 iMacs and 2 MacBooks even though all are capable of running Catalina.

My wife updated her Mac today. She downloaded the update overnight. It was installed this morning but needed a hard reboot. She is still exploring the new features. So far no problems.

Huge issues yesterday with rollout, much of which has been attributed to server clogs. I couldn't d/l it during the day, but I did last night on both of my MacBook pros. It installed flawlessly on both once downloaded. Setup was no problem. I will say that not only do my machines boot faster (around 26 seconds on both) but my apps start up more quickly. This includes Lightroom and Affinity apps. I wasn't a happy camper yesterday, but all is well with the world now :-)

I don't know about the compatibility issue with ON1 Photo Raw.
