The basics are the same. All you need to learn are the "bells and whistles" of the new cameras. Exposure techniques and composition techniques are the same. Post production is the hill to climb. Just stay patient and shoot, shoot, shoot! Great shot btw!

Shame on those that provided snide comments and other than constructive criticism. We all start at the beginning in photography and those that are seasoned should be mentors, not mud slingers.

Nice shot. One issue for me however, it the shadow falling on her face.

No you are not the only one. One does not need a high level degree to recognize the smell of self serving bull crap, even when it’s wrapped in academic hyperbole.

Macs are easy to hack into. Their software for virus scans are not good. They use "old-hat" in the tech world. δ¿δ

Hmm, I have four Macs. A 2007 desktop that my wife uses, a 2009 laptop that I use, a 2013 desktop that I use, and a 2015 laptop that my daughter uses. All still running like the day they were purchased. None have ever had a virus or have been hacked and all of the can run Windows software if needed. Oh and none have or have ever had antivirus software (except when running windows!). All are running the latest Mac Operating System. I wonder how many 2007 vintage Windows machines are even still running much less able to run the latest version of Windows.

24mm is 24mm on the same camera whether an EF or EF-S. There are minor technical differences, some you noted like filter size and IS. The bigger differences are ruggedness of the build as in size, weight, weather resistance and overall ability to hold up on demanding conditions for the 24L. And then there's the cost ... The 24 EFS is intended to be a small, relatively cheap, sharp, f/2.8 prime.

Well, yes and no. On a crop frame camera a 24mm EF-S Lens is just that, 24mm. On that same camera a EF (full frame) lens has a 1.6x crop factor so it actually shoots as if it were a 38mm EF-S lens. One has to consider the focal length actually needed when choosing to purchase a full frame lens for a crop frame camera body.

I would consider something such as a Network Accessible Storage (NAS) device that allows access to files via internet. One brand available on the market is Synology, but there are several others. They have smart apps for things like music access, photo access, and a myriad of other tasks. Setup is generally easy. Data is secure on the device due to its RAID configuration, but routine backups should still be performed and kept off site in the event a catastrophe (such as a fire, tornado, or such) occurs. Other manufacturers of similar systems are Data Robotics, and QNAP. There are others. Hope that helps.

Well you could stop clicking his links then. Instead of coming online bashing someone.

What do you think you will accomplish by starting this thread.

I think you need to re-read his thread. He is not bashing, he is praising and wants to understand why Robeng’s photos stand out.

Does the phrase" impersonating a police officer" ring a bell? 😳😱

Cops do not go easy on police impersonators. They take it very seriously. I recommend you don't do that. Unless of course you like the feel of handcuffs.

Journey: I have 5 lenses, 4 Canon "L" series lenses including the 70-200 f2.8 LII. I also own the Sigma 150-600 it's the only non-Canon lens I own and I'm extremely pleased with it.

Chapmen: Get over yourself. Not everyone is perfect. Didn't your mother ever teach you that if can't say something nice, don't say anything at all?

This is one of the best images I've seen on here yet! Artistically, shows passion, sensuality, and vulnerability. Technically, the use of light and shadow is spot on. I love this photo!

Huh? How is there no true Manual exposure mode on Nikon DSLR cameras??

JPL wrote:
There is no true manual mode on Nikon cameras. If you want to shoot in true manual (manual everything, also focusing) then you need to get a Sony or something similar with histogram in the viewfinder and focus peaking etc. And then you will also get excellent results most of the time.

Maybe this will change when Nikon enters the mirrorless market with full frame or Aps-c cameras, but until then it makes little sense using Nikon in manual mode.
