I read that the shutter speed can be a high as 1/200, yet anytime I force the fill flash in"P" mode (on board flash), the camera only uses 1/60th.......I can find no place in the manual that allows a different setting?

Any ideas appeciated.

"Crop factor" affects only field of view NOT magnification, as far as I understand.

Your 300mm lens still magnifies the same whether it is attached to an FX or DX style camera, thus a 1.4x teleconverter only will "magnify" the equivalent of 420mm, but yield an equivalent 672mm field of view.

One should try to make a living doing something they love.

I am fortunate to be retired and without significant financial concerns, however I do like to keep busy and found they my interest in still and video photography has grown to an interest in creating multimedia shows, suitable for DVD, Blu-Ray or any of the social media sites.

I have found that folks will pay good money to have their vacations chronicled, communities will pay for marketing videos of their grounds and amenities and many organizations will pay for productions promoting whatever it is they are interested in.

Youtube is free, commands a world wide audience, supports HD and productions of up to 15 minutes in length.

I have taken a hobby and created a larger hobby that pays me a bit for my time and talent.......and it is really fun!

Here are a couple:

I agree with the ProShow choice for occasional creations, but if you do this sort of thing on a regular basis, the upgrade to Proshow Producer is worth the money in both ease of accomplishing things and the new features that allow much more creativity.

Here is a trip segment using animation techniques and key framing, along with some enhanced capability using slide styles.

My wife and I do 3D carvings of pets. I manipulate a digital photo on PS and then carve the resulting artwork on my home CNC machine (carvewright) and then my wife paints it to match the photo.

I have had the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TS1 for several years (they now make a similar upgraded model now) It is a great pocket camera packed with features and is waterproof and shockproof, thus great for travel. It also shoots HD video (AVCHD) and the quality is awesome. Haven't found a camera that is as much at home under the sea as above........I have HD video snorkeling with a sea lion and sea turtles in the Galapagos.

The first 2 shots were taken with the nikkor 35 f1.8, the last was with a tamron 18-270 pzd, which will likely be the walk around lens for trips and hikes and the 35mm for portrait and lower light stuff.

An easy way with Photoshop is to use the "magic wand tool" around the subject, to highlight the background, then "fill" with a contrasting color.......you may have to reset the "tolerance" depending on how close the background color is to the subject color.........when the back ground is filled with the solid contrasting color, select it with the same tool and then under "select" tab chose "inverse".....the subject will be isolated, then copy and paste to a new area.

It is software that creates the HDR composite from the bracketed shots.
