Good morning all, just wanted to get some opinions on the full frame vs crop sensor debate. Which do you use and why?

It's overrated, use medium format.

How many of you use auto iso and what are some circumstances when you would want to? With speedlite? With manual? When wouldn't you want to?

I use it when there are varying lighting conditions and I want a certain speed and DOF. Usually walking in the woods shooting wildlife.

Sooooo, now that the prices for Nikon 100th anniversary commemorative items have been announced, what are they thinking? You can buy a set of the "holy trinity" f:2.8 lenses for $6500 or you can get the commemorative set with metal case for $1500 more. I'd be happier if they offered a $1500 rebate for my 50 years of loyal patronage.

Think I'll wait for the T-shirts "coming soon".
Sooooo, now that the prices for Nikon 100th annive... (show quote)

whew!!! My, my they are proud of their lenses. 100th anniversary should be give aways, not overpriced products.

The crop with the arrows I posted pointing to the artifact was made from the downloaded photo. (about 8 posts ago.)

I see that, but that doesn't look like artifacts to me.

I use manual when it suits my purpose. Most of the time, I'm not in a hurry, so I have time to dial in the aperture, shutter speed and ISO. Most of the time, I want to see how one effects the other in the exposure triangle. For instance, when using 600mm lens, I want minimum 640 Shutter speed. I like the aperture to be between f8 to f11 and let the ISO land wherever. This setup helps me when I get in different lighting conditions frequently during the shooting session. Having an auto-ISO setting is something that still intrigues me since it wasn't available with film. I get a lot of satisfaction out of it. But, I don't use manual because it's the cool thing to do. It's just another method to tinker with.

the Tamron is a great SP lens. I don't know anything about the Sigma but have read it is also a good lens.

I don't see them when I download the photo. My guess is jpg format is causing it.

I like the 28-300mm lens as an all purpose lens.

I don't see anything wrong with the images. The colors and patters of the background will dictate the look.

If you have the camera set to only fire the shutter when it finds focus, the D750 will shoot fast as long as it is in focus. As has been mentioned, if the lighting is good, increase the shutter speed and turn VC off.

I had the same situation with a Tamron 28mm-300mm zoom. I had it exchanged with no issues from Adorama. Dust will get into the lens eventually, but why start out that way.
