I think you misunderstand when and why to use ND filters. ND filters slow down the shutter speed which may allow you to use a wider aperature. I have several filters of different shades of darkness and use them primarily to slow down water such as from a waterfall or ocean waves. They also work great to diminush ripples on a body of water like a lake to get the "mirror" effect.

They would have no effect on the pictures you posted as a slower shutter speed wouldn't make any difference. As other have already stated, a good polarizer filter would help a lot. If you do go with ND filters, spend the money and get good ones. What's the point of having an expensive lens and then putting a cheap piece of glass on the front. B&W and Hoya are good choices.

I paired a l-bracket with a RRS BH-55 ball head, best investment I've made in a while. The L-bracket is makes putting the camera on the ball head a snap and you can flip from horizontal to vertical by just flipping the camera. One of the better reasons for this is that when you flip the from horizontal to vertical, the plane of view is almost the same.

As for the ball head, it's expensive but worth it. Huge knob on the side to tighten it down, latch locks down on the camera with a death grip ensuring it will not fall off.

Yes, it works amazingly well! Even with pictures that don't appear to have much noise will benefit from it. It also does a great job of shapeing the picture at the same time, so much so, I don't use the Topaz sharpening program anymore. It does take some time to process, on a large file it may take 30 seconds to complete, but since it's the last thing I do for a picture, I don't mind the wait. I use in Photoshop as a plug in so I can keep the denoize on a seperate layer.

You just have to shop around. I recently needed a part for a Dell printer. Amazon wanted $30.00 plus shipping. I went to the Dell site and found it for $20.00 plus free shipping. I think most of the time Amazon is either the same price or maybe cheaper, but as I said, it pays to shop around...

I use a company called Aspen Creek. They are a sister company of West Coast Printing. They have always done an excellent job on my pictures for a reasonable price. Just printed a 30 x 48 that came out amazing (used a Nikon D850 for the photo)

Agreed! All my filters are by B&W. What's the point of having a 2k lens and then put a cheap piece of glass in front of it? You get what you pay for...

B&H. Just can't go wrong with them. Adorama... they're okay but I have had issues with them selling items only to find out when it was in the cart that it was actually on backorder. And the last time I ordered from them, I am surprised the product arrived in one piece because of the absolutely terrible job they did packing it.

You should also try their Denoise program. I had a milky way shot that was taken at 3200 ISO, it removed about 95% of the noise. I recently took a day time shot at 400 ISO, decided to run it through the program even though there was very little noise in the picture, I was amazed on how much better the picture got. I removed the noise AND sharpened it!

Get the 24 t0 120 F4 lens, it will outdo the varible Fstop lens by a long ways!
I have it and it takes really sharp pictures. I compared it to one of my pro lenses such as the 24-70 F2.8 and the pro lens was only sligthly sharper. Great walk around lens! Look for it used, bought my on Craigslist for $500, it will usally sell for between $600 to $750, depending on the condition which is better than paying $1100 new. B&H usually has a few in stock

I signed up the first day I got the account. The 5 year reminder is kind of weird, not sure what will happen if you don't remind them. Worse thing is I lose the account but I got five years of cloud storage for $100. Not a bad price I guess...

Came across this deal for cloud storage. The company Starchive is offering 1tb of cloud storage for life for less than a $100.00. I signed up and have started transfering files and it seems to work very well. I was able to access my pictures from other computers and download them with no problems. I figure for "life" means mine or the companies, whichever lasts longer..

Here is the link

Or to quote Arnold Palmer:

Someone once asked him how he was able to win so many golf games, was it just luck? To which he replied "It is just luck, but I find the more I practice, the luckier I get"

I found this true with myself. I started out with a Minolta system many years back which unfortunatly got stolen. After many years of not doing any photography, I invested in a very nice Nkon system. But I soon noticed my photography still wasn't that great. So I started reading books on photograpy, subscribed to a couple of good photography magazines, getting out more on photo runs. NOW, my photography is soooo much better. Having a good camera does not make you a great photographer, but when I do get that one winner of a shot, it's nice to know that it was recorded well using a high megapixel camera with a pro lens..

Definiatley. It is a great all around camera. But get a good book on how to set it up if you have never owned a Nikon camera before.
