I ran into the same problem. Since I was running as many as 1000 releases it became impossible. In the end I switched to high-intensity LED lights (500W equivalent) and that has worked.
There are five flies trapped. This is since last night, so it has been a productive day. Technically, not quite Macro as the leaves are about twice the size of the sensor. This is just a screenshot, the full image is 16MB.
I have always thought the definition of Macro confusing, and it has changed over the years. If I have an old camera that uses an 8x10 plate, then I can create Macro on objects almost as large as a head. My preference would be based on the ability to show/print the resultant image, rather than the capture process.
Helicon Remote will allow you to stack via focus control, rather than physically moving the camera on a rail. they also make a focussing software program than can link to Remote.
I am looking for extension tubes to use with my Nikon 105 macro lens. Are there any suggestions for which brand gives the best compatibility with all of the functions?
The full image is about a 2:1 magnification. It was shot with a Nikon 105 mm Macro lens and is the result of 30 images taken using Helicon remote and stacked with Helicon Focus.
I have been using Bonlux Studio Light Bulb 20w LED Daylight Balanced Bulb with 5500k Color Temperature (available on Amazon) Each is equivalent to a 300W incandescent.
