To David in Dallas:

Wow, that was a fantastic "Try". Thank you. I had albums but didn't know about collections. I did a couple of test ones. https://www.flickr.com/photos/themanmaw/collections/ Now I have something new to play with during this crazy season we are living in. I like Google Photos but I find it a little intimidating.

Flickr is the first place I started uploading pictures from my PC. Over
the years I haven't used it very much. Can you explain Flickr collections and Mosaic's to me?

There are several very good PDF creating programs. I like the FREE version of NITRO PDF that installs a printer driver that creates the PDF file for you. You can add to existing PDF files also if you decide to add more later

Thank you, Warhawk.

Hi Shirley,

I enlarge a page to my full screen size (32" display) and then capture it using Hypersnap. For a 20 page book, this is a relatively fast process. You can save each page in a variety of formats. Typically, I use WORD to build the file and then make a pdf from that document.

You are nice to make the books for all of those folks!

Thank you. I'm glad I asked. I am not familiar with Hypersnap but I am going to check it out.

[quote=infocus]I feel guilty even asking this question here as I have not been on UHH for some time. Unfortunately mainly due to illness and not being able to contribute. However I have a predicament and I thought only the clever folk on UHH could help. For the last 9 years every year I have made a DVD (including pics, music, audio and type or graphics) of my grand daughter's year. Photos of her at sport, school, on holidays etc, etc.

For all that time I have used a programme called Pro Show Gold by Photodex, Now while I have always found this programme a little unstable this year it is off the planet. I won't go into detail as this is already becoming a short story (sorry),
My question is of all the UHH folk out there doing the same thing I am doing what programme do you use or can you recommend? I have tried "Photo Stage Slide Show Producer by NCH" but find it slow and awkward.

Thank you sincerely for you time and take care.[/quote

I have been using "Pictures To Exe" by WnSoft for several years. I started when they were on Version 4 and my current one is Version 9. Their latest upgrade is now called PTE AV Studio 10. Here's a link to their website. https://www.wnsoft.com/en/pte-av-studio/. Check them out. I think you would be pleased.

I have made a number of books documenting trips of my family. They are hardbound and it is easy to add text to the photos. I made these using Shutterfly (see https://www.shutterfly.com/photo-books?CID=SEMSN.BRAND.387_145784_7323548_3530335&msclkid=b03874a08554103d22c72ac178b7ed72). They offer a variety of options. Quality is quite good, but a bit less than a slick magazine production. Cover for one book is shown below. The software is easy to use and versatile. Also, I found a method to create a pdf of the book that could the shared with others.

Doc Barry, Did you find a way to create a pdf - other than the standard one on the Shutterfly site? I would love to hear about it. I make a lot of Shutterfly books for grandkids and friends and would love to be able to keep a good pdf file for myself. Admittedly, the standard one is pretty good.

WnSoft has a good software. I have been using Pictures To Exe and really like it. Their latest product is called something else. I can't recall the name but it has AV in the name. Ask Google or respond back here if you are intersted.

Much simpler to go to a local backup for a file or two.
(I don't run Windows Backup at all, I just copy directories to the backup drive. That way the files are immediately visible in Windows Explorer. (I made a batch file that copies everything I want to save. I just let it run overnight. Takes about two hours.)

That sounds like that would work for me. Would you mind explaining how you make a batch file? Thank you

I recently discovered that with the camera on my cell phone, you can say "smile" instead of pressing the button. Very helpful for hands that have been around for 78 years.

We were there in 2005. A local person told us to be sure to take a drive on Potash Road - a beautiful drive beside the Colorado River. A short drive up Highway 128 was also beautiful.

You can do a Google search on .mix files and find what software will open them. I noticed that it mentioned Microsoft Picture It and Microsoft Digital Image software. I have brought both along from "way back" and they work, grudgingly, on my Windows 10 PC.
