Using a non apple file format could be the problem. The ex-fat file program is usually for switching from Apple to Windows computers and back. Apple recommends either OS extended or APFS as the primary file for formatting hard drives for use with Apple computers since OS Sierra.

Considering that the Seagate drive is not new it probably needs to have its program updated. WD send me update messages to update the programs for my external drives and I am not having that problem. Also Adobe won't update their installer programs to 64 bit so you are probably out of luck with PS unless you clean your Macs drive. Even then it might not work. Although if you pay the monthly ransom PS might work.

I do see spots in the file at about one o'clock in the photo and some "wigglees" as my granddaughter calls them. It looks like a sensor cleaning is in order.

First off, keep the lens with mold away from any of the other equipment. See if Nikon will repair it, as it is a very good lens. Secondly, I'd definitely keep the D700. I've had mine since Jan. of 2010. It's a very good camera. Between the D7100 and the D5100, I'd keep the more recent. I'm not familiar with crop sensor cameras. Thus, the more recent comment.

The 24~70 is a really good lens and thus looking into getting it repaired is a good idea.

Bob, the D7100 will focus af lenses, the D5100 does not as far as I know.

Is there any chance of it coming East? Or did it happen and I missed it? Mike

How Far East? It is going to go to Little Rock, Arkansas on this trip and then back toward Cheyenne. Since The Union Pacific has little trackage east of the Mississippi River I would say not unless another railroad asks them to come to one of their towns.

I do not know. Just didn't pay attention to it.
I remember wishing it wasn't in that location. It was in my shot.....

It is a good thing it was there. That is a mobile grease trailer. It has grease, oil, gear oil, water, and probably a welder/generator to provide electric and welding capabilities. On second look it is a portable steam cleaner/pressure washer.

To those of you who are as infatuated with steam locomotives as I am Union Pacific has updated the Itinerary for stops east of El Paso, Texas. I am sure that there are many of you who wish to know the stops east of El Paso, so I am attaching the updated trip itinerary for your perusal.

Enjoy.

@MadMikeOne: If he thinks he's smarter than Nikon, what makes you think he would buy Bryan Peterson's book?

If you went to www.nikonimgsupport.com you would find that Nikon does not recommend any teleconverter for any of the 70-300 lenses.

As I understand the rules for Hazardous Materials The buffer car placement has been in effect since 1970. The hazardous materials handbook lists any placarded unit in a consist in a hazard class and that requires a buffer car placement.

@rehess; On most UP manifests I see here in the Tucson area they have either 4 or 5 buffer cars between the locomotives and the crude, LPG, acid, and other cars in the train. According to the HAZ MAT instruction manual there should be 5 buffer cars between the locomotives and the first placarded railcar. The same held true when cabooses were occupied by the conductor and brakeman in the days of a caboose as end of train there were to be 5 buffer cars between the last placarded car.

Of course when I hauled hazardous material in a Semi we did not have the buffer protection.

I am surprised that they only had 1 buffer car on the tail. How many were between the locomotives and the lead tank car?

@Pat, if you look at the schedule on the web site I added to my post you will see in a map the route it will take in Texas. From the looks of the route it will go down along the border to Mexico and then up toward Texarkana.

@Mac; I know about most of that stuff. I am just old😟 and don't remember as well as I used to. Also I am retraining my brain as I had a fall last year and ended up in a Neurologic unit in a hospital for 2 months. After I wrote the first post on this I realized I could cut & paste the other forum post to a blank form and post it that way. 🥺
