I get to see our dermatologist about every once in a while, to carve off various spots on my face and body.
On my first visit there, I gave the receptionist a bit of a laugh/giggle. When I went in, I asked her what
a 'metologist' is. She looked puzzled and said, "Huh?" I told her that my doctor told me I had to be seen
by a 'dern metologist'.

Thanks. That is interesting, and something I'd like to hear is actually being taught in schools these days.

Oh, well. At least you looked.

I certainly do have to agree with the others that those are some great pictures.
It's just that my old-age mind usually makes some silly 'plays' with words, and
too often where it's not called for.

Sorry, but when I first saw the intro to this, I thought about how I usually
try to be 'awake' when I leave somewhere...
(Okay!! I know this isn't in the Chit Chat section of the forum. Sorry!!)

I was in the Army from Oct '60 and retired Jun '81. I did spend the year of Jun '67 - '68 in Vietnam. I was hit with a sad part of reference to my military career just last year, when I commented to my 51-yr-old daughter something along the line of not having received any recognition for Veterans' Day from anyone in the family - be it a card or a well-wishing comment or whatever. I wasn't complaining, as such, just making a comment. She responded something in return that the military is "just a line of work that someone chooses; and, that's up to them." I believe that she might have been thinking of other family members who are fire fighters, or whatever; but it hit me along the line of when I passed through California airports on the way back from 'Nam, and had to try to hide being in uniform. I will now try to keep a 'low profile' as Veteran's Day / Week come up again next year . . .

This subject tends to bring up the subject of a movie from long ago. It came up in a conversation
my two brothers and I had when we got together last November, and were 'shooting the bull'. The
movie was about an elderly couple who wanted to 'leave this earth together', sadly considering to
do so by suicide.

If we remembered correctly, the movie ended with a daughter who didn't want them to do that,
went by their house to visit one day. As she got no response in the house and was walking away,
she heard the car radio playing and the car engine running inside a closed detached-garage. In
panic, she rushed toward the garage, but then stopped. She turned around and sadly walked away.

Do any of you recall that movie and know, perhaps the name thereof . . . ?

I, too, totally agree with all the other comments concerning your photos.
My first thought was about how that young lady, and her family, will hang
onto that picture for a long time to come; but, in seeing the quality of your
pictures, I'm sure they already have quite a few to 'hang onto'. Nice work...

Apparently there is a shortage of everything today! I started with machine made cigars like Garcia y Vega 50 years ago, but now smoke only hand made premium cigars, but they are relatively expensive. I do live in the Cigar city of America(Tampa), so there are many cigar stores and lounges where we can enjoy this pleasure.

I am not a smoker, but I do know where you are speaking of. I lived not to far from Ybor City in Brandon for about 32 years after retiring from the Army out of MacDill AFB. I had some close friends whose family was from that Cigar Capital of the World, and they carried that 'pride' with them always.

I, too, find baseball basically boring to watch, especially on TV. I've been to a few live games - not as my desire, but with family or coworkers - but was surprised that most of the time for most spectators was spent socializing rather than watching the game itself. If it's on TV, I usually watch other channels and 'flip' back to the game channel every now and then during commercials.

I like watching football on TV, but the action/plays take up so little time when compared to the time spent 'making plans' and talking about what they're gonna do next. I therefore personally prefer watching games where the 'action' tends to be continuous, such as soccer and basketball. But, that's just me . . .

I worked on a project with the marketing folks at a major Pharma company and learned that all the side effects info etc. is mandated by the FDA. I also wonder how doctors feel about the “ask your doctor about…” line.

I'm not really sure, but I've heard that doctors can't give you drugs that you don't really need;
BUT, if you 'ask him about them', he can say something along the line of, "Well, I'm not sure,
but since you bring it up, let's give it a try." Then he can get 'kick-back' pay from the company
that put them out and advertised them. Like I said, I don't know how true that is, but . . .
