You should get at least a smile out of these.

The last one ends in Italian. I knew enough words to get the general idea, but I relied on Google for a translation.

(Especially for a Long Islander!)

On the third clip. I notice our 6:00 local news is completely dominated by car advertisements; usually sporty or high powered models. However, the 6:30 World News offers nothing but prescription drug ads usually focused on heart issues, skin ailments or dementia. So advertisers seem to think young, affluent consumers watch local news while seniors with medical conditions watch World News?

And have you noticed that all the drug ads seem to list the same side effects for their drugs? The only difference seems to be that some of them warn the users not to take the drug if they are allergic to them. How does one know until taking the drug?

I worked on a project with the marketing folks at a major Pharma company and learned that all the side effects info etc. is mandated by the FDA. I also wonder how doctors feel about the “ask your doctor about…” line.

The funniest side effect listed is "May cause death"

Yes, that is amusing.

I think it's funny that antidepressants may cause thoughts of suicide.

I'm not really sure, but I've heard that doctors can't give you drugs that you don't really need;
BUT, if you 'ask him about them', he can say something along the line of, "Well, I'm not sure,
but since you bring it up, let's give it a try." Then he can get 'kick-back' pay from the company
that put them out and advertised them. Like I said, I don't know how true that is, but . . .

Well, there are unscrupulous people in all professions and I’d place such a doctor in that category. Providing medicine simply because of the “since you brought it up…”
doesn’t pass the litmus test of “do no harm”.
Just my opinion, of course.

If my doctor did that, I'd find a new doctor. "Let's give it a try," does not sound very professional.

I wonder how much the cost of the drug could be reduced if those advertising dollars were eliminated 🤔. Probably none ….. wishful thinking.

And exactly why would they choose to reduce the cost?

Depends on which “cost” it refers to. If reducing the cost means production costs…including r&d, manufacturing, licensing, promotion etc…lowering any of those could increase profits.
