Ordered one of these new NIKKOR lenses as I am getting older and carrying my 400mm 2.8 is getting harder so I went ahead and ordered this lens well 9 1/2 months later it will finally arrive today never waited so long for any camera gear before, hope it’s worth it?

If I am not mistaken it will move all your setting over for you makes it easy

This is correct it does not have anything to do with smaller plane United Sucks! you have to pay more to take a carry on

Never had any problems - Madagascar, Africa and Brazil many times always pack it into my checked bag.

I am an outfitter myself www.tundraRiverAdventures.com and contacted my friend in Madagascar who is an outfitter etc. who put the trip together for me with some very good guides. We wanted to see if I should add Madagascar to the places I go and yes we have decided to go again in 2019 before the Lemurs are gone. If you want more info give me a call or PM.

Yes out of all the places I have been in the world this was the most depressing in regards to the fast pace of total destruction of the habitat I have ever seen. What a shame as these little guys are so very cool. Don't think they will be around much longer that is why I am putting together another trip for 2019, I have a good friend who lives there and put this trip together for me at much lower price than any other company so we are going back. I have used beans in the past purchased once I get to my destination if I need to save weight during the travel to country. But now I use Buckwheat hulls they are great very light and and dust free. We bring them on the plane with us instead of packing as they do take up space. We tell the airline if asked they are our pillows this way we can carry them on the plane without using up any of our other luggage space.

We did a Self-Drive trip last fall with a company called Safari Drive the people on the ground that helped us were great but the company its self was the worst they made so many mistakes that cost us time and an anguish. They refuse to give us any money back at all, a bit off topic but wanted to say one of there people on the ground told us the same thing there is no shortage of people with enough money so they can charge almost any amount they want. I have to say if you are able a self-drive is very rewarding we say everything we wanted and more without a lot of other vehicles around us in most cases.

I remember back in the late sixties I used to go out to Anza Borrego for many different things and we hardly ever saw anyone out there loved the place used to have the blooms all to ourselves when they happened. Don't think I would like to see what has happened to it now.

I have the Nikon GPS and would love to use it more but I guide trips off the grid and it just drains the camera batteries to much so I find myself not being able to use it when off the grid.
