Hi all.

I have been judiciously adding Sony shooters to my buddy list wherever I see them. I now have 82 in my list. We are growing.

Hi

I am not sure if I replied to this before. Please add me to your list I am a Sony shooter, currently A6000 since its release in April. I also own a number of Minolta cameras and a small Nikon CSC as well.

The A6000 is a great camera very versatile and I am having so much fun with it.

Thank you

HI

Could I please ask a similar questions here to the first message. I currently have Photoshop Elements/Premiere V8 and considering upgrading to 12. However, I had thought Photomix was only for HDR but on reading the above it clearly has wider appeal. Do you have any suggestions as to which way to go?

Many thanks for any opinions.[/quote?

Definitely go to V12. Many new features in both Photoshop and Premiere. Premiere has free music included. New editing features in photoshop.
Many thanks

Photomatix is only for HDR, HOWEVER HDR images can run the entire gamut from realistic photos that more closely match the way the human eye sees the scene to dramatic, surrealistic, hyper-saturated, fantasmical artistry that promotes both praise and rabid denigration. I enjoy exploring the entire range.

That can be done quite nicely in many photo processing apps. My choice to start with would be Elements 12. It's user friendly and fairly easy to learn. Version 13 might be out in September if you want to wait.

Hi
I purchased the Sony A6000 in April which I now use instead of my Nikon. I waited 18 months for it and it is a very impressive piece of photographic equipment. I am still learning how to use all the features, I take the camera almost every where with me. I especially like the ability to crop out areas whilst maintaining good quality, the 11 frames/sec also allows for some real candid photos.

Try and see for yourself.

Just found an example of the 11 Frames a second feature

Thinking of going mirrorless.

I'm considering buying the new Sony RX100 M3 & was wondering if anyone has purchased this camera yet? If so, what's your experience with it? Is anyone else looking to buy the M3? or M2 or M1? Do you think it is significant to go from 100mm (M2) to 70mm (M3). I would appreciate anyone who could give me their thoughts on these 3 models of the Sony RX100.

Have you considered the A6000? Since my purchase in April I have found it to be a really great camera to hold, use and is very flexible in terms of the lenses available.

Nex line is dead. That is all. They are committed to the Alpha line up now 100% but have killed the NEX lineup. You can view the announcement:

They will be merging divisions and NEX was swallowed by Alpha. Makes sense.

Thank you I believe it has been renamed the ILCE range of cameras! What is concerning me is when is a replacement likely to happen! There have been a number of reductions on the current NEX 7 and I do not wish to purchase something that is about to be superseded.

Now that Sony has launched their A7 full frame cameras, does anybody have any news on the possibility of a new NEX 7 APS-C camera being released in the the near future?

Many thanks

As an Nex7 user I advise to definitely wait for the new one

Thank you for the comment. I am hopeful of a better solution at the end of the long wait, fingers and toes crossed.

I've given up waiting for the new models to be introduced. What will it be, when will it arrive, and how much will it cost? If a new model really appeals to me, I sell the old and buy the new. Life is too short to wait.

I see you're from St. Albans, UK. I used to live near St. Albans, NY.

Yep not quite man and boy but have always lived in the county of Hertfordshire. St Albans, UK, is the Magna Carter charter town, celebrating the 800th Anniversary of the creation of the document at St Albans Abbey in 1213. The foundation stone of democracy in England.

While you're waiting for the replacement, you could be enjoying the NEX-7.

Hi

Many thanks for the link to Trey Ratcliff article on the NEX 7.

I have not knowingly seen his work or website before. I found the video very good and I can see why it has prevoked such interest/controversy. I am far from being in the same league as Trey but much of what he comments on is why I made the decision to dump my DSLR & SLR cameras back in 2007 in favour of a Nikon P5000 following a stream of positive comments in DP Review. This model has subsequently been upgraded a number of times. Although at the time of purchase I could not believe the added enjoyment the camera would bring in terms of portability, number of photos I take and the way the camera can be used without continually being in some ones face. I have now taken thousands of shots and still use it regularly as it fits nicely on my hip. The issue over the last few years has been the shot to shot time and interchangeability. Having done my research I too decided that the NEX 7 was the next camera for me. But have been frustrated by the time Sony has taken to create the 7's replacement/address the issues identified. I am hopeful for the next release which appears now to be in October. I have been tempted by the current NEX 6 & 7 but have a number of other expensive pastimes so I decided not to purchase at this time. Thank you once again for starting the dialogue and for the link to yet more exciting times ahead.

I just watched the 1hr 40 min interview with Trey Ratcliff, discussing his switch from Nikon D800 to Sony NEX-7. I'd like to hear what UHH members think about their NEX-7, and what lenses they use.

Thank you for the information. I have started watching the web commentary with Trey, as I am very interested in the NEX 7 replacement but have run out of time today. I intend catching up with the report again some time tomorrow.

Many thanks

I deliberately left this post till after as this may be contentious. Recently our camera club had the identical as ba set topic. A quote from the Photography School re thirds

"I will say right up front however that rules are meant to be broken and ignoring this one doesn't mean your images are necessarily unbalanced or uninteresting. However a wise person once told me that if you intend to break a rule you should always learn it first to make sure your breaking of it is all the more effective!"
