Cool. Which cruise you taking? Definitely more personal and up close experiences than the bigger money buckets, like the Dam ships (Westerdam, etc). Remember, this area is a rain forest and it can rain for long periods of time. The animals and scenery don't care though, so maybe practice up on taking pics on cloudy, misty, and rainy situations. Hopefully you'll get lucky and have sunshine! I haven't been on any of the longer Allen Marine Cruises, but I have been to a lot of places they go. I'm not a big time photographer, I use a bridge camera, and because of the Hedgehogs here, I now use the Canon SX50 HS...good enough for me. You'll most likely hit the Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear here in Sitka, so there's your close ups of bear and eagles. I have my own boat and we "camp out" a lot with it (34 footer), and enjoy going to the different beaches to explore the beaches and woods. Almost all of our wildlife pictures were taken from a boat, because once you hit the beaches the wildlife aren't as close by. Anyway, hope you enjoy the trip, and if you see a 34 Tollycraft called the Weekender, give us a wave!
