I am quite mad about this even madder that NBC has the gull to ignore this. Starting (from what I have seen) the two athletes that are from Florida Gator country, when they won the Gold and Silver metals for the triple jump, had the nerve to wrap themselves in the f**g but when it came to the metal ceremony, honoring them and our country with our National Anthem, they refused to salute the f**g. Instead they stood there like a bunch of thugs with their hands over their g*****ls during the entire playing of the anthem and our f**g being risen up. Then right after, the three that swept the metals in the hurdle race (forget which one), the next day repeated the same d********g, disrespectful behavior. And later the same day the two that won the Gold ands Silver in the shot put, did the same thing. Three times in two days, eight athletes representing us, disrespect us and our country. Are they protesting something or what? And if they are, the Olympics is no place to be doing it; politics are supposed to be let at home.

NBC has ignored this behavior and has said nothing about it, nor have we heard any statement from the Olympic committee and obviously they don't care since athletes keep repeating this insulting behavior. I was so disgusted, that I called my local NBC affiliate to protest the fact that the network is ignoring the subject and the guy I talked to questioned wether the Olympic committee gives any instructions to the athletes for proper behavior at the metal stand but could care less about doing anything about it or having it investigated. I was appalled at his attitude; displayed to me that he could care less. So I called the newspaper in our state capital and I got the same; I could care less attitude. Makes me wonder if the media has been directed by the white house to ignore these unpatriotic acts as an attempt to insult the f**g and America since the clown in the white house also refuses to salute our f**g. This is an outright insult to every American and a direct kick between the legs to anybody that has worn the uniform in defense of our country.

In my book any athlete that goes over seas and represents us and openly disrespects the people of the United States should be shown the same disrespect to them, and the second they set foot on American soil, they should be met by a military General and/or their state Governor and immediately stripped of their metal and any honor that went with it. And NBC should have the right to cover the Olympics stripped from them too for allowing this activity to go on and ignoring it. If they are that ignorant and care that little about their country, they have no business covering any activities outside the borders of this country, if they should even be allowed to that; they should have their license pulled to broadcast. After all, they didn't mind raking the swimmers over the coals (not that they didn't deserve it - and it pisses me off too how they bought their way out of jail time; seems the rich can always get away with anything). Are they themselves that ignorant and have no patriotic duty and responsibility at all.

I personally am sick and tired of this pompus assed liberal movement to destroy this country and turn it over to the New World Order and this is what all this is about to begin with.

The Olympic athletes are not military, so no saluting needed. Stop looking for things, if a person looks for something they will always find something, whether or not is is real.

While I personally find it annoying that athletes don't salute the American f**g, to do what you suggest, met by a military General and/or their state Governor and immediately stripped of their metal and any honor that went with it, is a bit extreme don't you think? This is still America and American people are still FREE to think as they choose as long as they don't present a threat to America. I fought twice in Vietnam for freedom and America's fighting force has fought for freedom all the way back to the Revolutionary War and is STILL fighting for freedom yet today and in the foreseeable future. Freedom isn't just for what YOU think it should mean but for EACH OF US to choose what it means. Do I like these athletes doing what they did? Of course not. I think it is a direct slam against the country that is supporting them. But they still have the freedom to not like this country.

On to your comments of NBC. They are a news organization and are supposed to broadcast the news as THEY see it, not as you or I see it. Have you ever heard of the 1st Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, commonly known as Freedom of the Press. I don't like everything I read in the press or see on television news programs but it is also my right to change channels or buy newspapers. That is MY freedom and yours too.

With due respect to your freedoms it doesn't make sense to b***h about your freedoms while taking away the freedom of others.

By the way, it isn't metals but medals that these athletes are winning for America. Our athletes all around did a bang up job this year and I am extremely proud of every single one of them. Go America!!!

I missed the shotputs behaviour. I do agree with you it is total disrepect for our people in the services. My dad would be appalled at this behaviour. He is a WWII vet. The athletes are funded by the donations of people like you and me, I say come time for the next Olympics, this disrespecting individuals not be allowed to go. I don't care how much they apologize between now and then. Olympic athletes should be required to sign a behaviour/ethical statement. If they violate it, they have to pay back the cost of sending them to the Olympics.
Unfortunately only the Olympic committee can take away the medals. That at the moment is only done for rule violations and drug use.

Maybe we civilians are not required to salute, but as a sign of respect we should salute. The proper way to salute is with our hand over our heart. At least that is what I was taught by many WWII vets.

I wore the f**g on my shoulder for 21 years while flying Uncle Sam's airplanes. These guys don't have to salute, just put their hands over their hearts. But... they don't because they probably were never taught to respect the f**g or their country. Their goal is "what's in it for me?" and that's it. With this generation, I don't see it getting any better any time soon.

Beautiful! Yeah,it's the fault of the "liberals." I feel sorry for the poor bastards who answer the phone calls you have told us about a few times. Got to be more fun than some of these posts! Keep it up though,it breaks the monotony and humdrum of sane people! Give my best to NBC and the Olympic Committee!

You don't have to be military to salute. A civilian salutes by putting their right hand on their heart. And yes, an American always shows respect to their country and f**g. I take it, you are not from the United States; but for one to not show respect to the f**g is an insult to our people, and before o'bozo got into politics and seems to try to make it socially acceptable not to salute the f**g is so wrong. In his case, with his position, it's just about treason. Bottom line what these athletes did was wrong and there is no justification for at all and every American should be outraged.

Whiteflower, you are the kind of person that just can't carry on a decent conversation. I AM an American and proud of my heritage. I guess we can't all adhere to your cranky ways. Try smiling once in a while.

You are forgetting that these athletes are ambassadors for their country. If they want to slam it, they have no business being there and politics are not supposed to be in the Olympics; therefore if they want to protest their country they have no business going there, if they are going to use them as a platform for pushing their opinions period. It has nothing to do with how one feels; there is something called protocol and it should be followed. Yes, NBC is a news media, but a license to broadcast is not one for supporting treasonous acts. The media is so corrupt now, it's beyond d********g with their liberal agenda and corruption. Freedom of the press is not a ticket to destroy the country. I used to be in the press and there is something called ethics which today's biased media has no clue as to what it is. Twenty years ago they would have been all over those athletes for doing that and should be today too. This countries people have no clue what American p***e is anymore or what it really means to be an American.
