I think this extraction is fantastic and only a photographer would pick out a halo. I also agree with others that 1) for your purposes a little halo just shows what a great animal is being pictured, 2) shoot it right the first time with the right background, but most importantly 3) your actions are admirable.

I always get so much information from this site and the questions. What's with the owl? Rescue also? It looks so sad. Maybe because it is awake during the bright daylight. I'm going to go try extracting an object and inserting it somewhere else. Thanks everyone!

I am using SmugMug and have found the staff to be very helpful with all my questions. I am not a pro but decided that Pro status would allow people to purchase online and I would not have to have such a large inventory or mess with shipping large items.

You can set your prices above their basic price. That took a little time. SmugMug offers other perks that will dress your site to look more professional. I haven't gone down that road yet.

Apparently you've already researched SmugMug, but here's my site and I know very little about setting up websites! http://paulasphotography.smugmug.com/

Good Luck. I do know your friends and potential clients will appreciate being able to look at your work.

I am considering setting up a new photography website using Smugmug and a domain name through GoDaddy. I am looking at the Smugmug Pro account at $150 per year and $9.95 per year for the domain name. I am curious if any UHH members are using Smugmug Pro and how successful have you been. Pros and cons? Any advise would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thank you. Neither sound wins a grammy! . I thought I had been through all the Youtubes concerning the shutter/mirror sounds.

I guess I'll just have to get used to it. I did a lot of research before I decided on 60D and from all the comments I don't think I made the wrong decision for my pocket book.

Since the XTi is my only other experience with DSLR I'm wondering if this is normal. I would expect the sound to be less. (I thought I posted this question last night but cannot find it in the forum)

The shutter in your 60D is a better rated shutter, I noticed in this thread that another poster noticed the same thing when he upgraded to a full frame canon. Maybe it is the difference in the better shutter system that you are hearing. I own both a 50D and a 60D and really don't notice a difference but when I was deciding on the camera I watched a Youtube video that compared the 60D and the T3i and there was a pronounced difference in the sound of the shutter which pushed me towards the 60D as I was very uncomfortable with the sound of the T series shutter. I hope that I am making sense

Here is a short video that compares the sounds of the two shutters, if your shutter sounds like the video I would not be concerned and take comfort in knowing that the new camera should have a longer shutter life as well as being capable of more frames per second.

Thanks I'll check this later. Several people have suggested "mirror" noise and not shutter.

thank you Reinr, jerryc41,al_davis, Ziza, Bangee5, Bill41, rpavich, and les_stockton.

I'm going to let this one rest. A "klunker" it is but you'd think Canon would lessen the noise. I'll scare all the wildlife away with my first "klunk"

thanks everyone!

You could always take it to a camera shop and let them listen. If they sell Canon, they know what to expect.

I noticed the same thing when i got my 5D mark II...the shutter sound is definitely like a klunk.

Previously I had a T2i.

It's just different.

Thanks again. I don't know how I ever got along without UHH. Everyone is great. I guess I'll keep playing with it. It's only been 3 days!

Thanks I have a good camera repair business that I trust and will probably do that. I could just take lots of photos till the new klunk becomes an old familiar sound!

This is going to sound dumb but my new 60D "klunks" instead of "clicks". It's almost like a very slow shutter speed. Definitely different than my old XTi. Any thoughts? thanks

Aughhhhhhhh another spec to research. Gone are the days of buying the throw-away camera! I can hardly wait to buy the sd or sdhc or sdxc card and try out my new toy!

I want an extra battery for my new 60 D (to arrive today!) The LP-E6 comes in so many "sizes" from 7.2 to 7.4 volt, 1400 to 2600 mAh. What are the cautions? Is bigger better?

Also I just read about charging batteries and that was good info from everyone.
Thanks again.

Higher voltage batteries are made that way so that, when they are new, the voltage regulator in the camera power controller will adapt. Higher current batteries just last longer. However, watch the power curve. If published, it should hold a charge until the end and drop off quickly. Does anyone know about any sites explaining the effects of power curves on camera operation?

I just opened my "present' and the battery is 7.2 volt and 1800 mAh. So far I haven't read any cautions. Thanks for the info. Does Bugs Bunny ever get tired od the soft shoe?

Hey Doc ..... 7.2 or 7.4 doesn't matter ..... the mAh do. This is like the fuel tank in your car ..... the higher the mAh the longer you can keep taking pictures.

Thanks. Guess I'm not much for patience. All batteries that I have looked at say "for Canon 60D" as well as other Canons.
