Annabelle, you would have been rolling on the beach laughing if you had seen me trying to do this. I'm too embarassed to tell you how many tries it took!
I had the camera on a tripod and was trying out my new wireless remote. Half the time I couldn't tell if the thing was working. I got a whole lot of pictures of myself checking to see if the bloody light was blinking! I had to go home and take a nap after this excursion!
TraceyG (Hometown Girl) Thanks so much and yes, please feel free to send to your family. Since this is my first time posting, I'm not sure if I set things up right. Let me know if I need to do something.
I'm not pushing my luck beyond 2 photos - I'll traumatize myself!
This was taken on the western shore of Lake Michigan at Fort Sheridan Beach just north of Chicago. About 10 minutes after I took this photo the sky opened up and it poured!
Just looked on the page and it doesn't look as sharp as it actually is. Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong?
On The Beach
TraceyG - Chicago isn't my home town (I'm an Army brat) but it's my all time favorite town. We're at the time of year when I'm sure you're glad to be living south.
No Gizzy - It wasn't doctored. I shot this as a JPEG and the only software I had came with a REALLY cheap HP point and shoot camera.
I hope I'm successful posting this. If you see the comment and no picture it's because I couldn't figure it out! :)
I love the 'Bean' (Cloud Gate) in Chicago. I took this photo when I first started taking pictures. I didn't own a tripod so I put my camera on top of my camera bag.
Chicago Bean
You probably got the same kind of looks I got when I was taking pictures of the floor at the top of the Empire State Building. Nice shot.
I've been going to the wrong place! Instead of driving up into Wisconsin I should have gone the the up. The colors are gorgeous. If you're from Michicgan, the Lions are doing a number on my Bears tonight! :(
I love this photo because of the intensity of the colors.
PalePictures, I just tried HDR for the first time this weekend. Your first turned out a lot better than my first! :)
I like the look; it's kind of dreamy.
J, I like your shots. Previously made a comment that I've had good luck doing shots like this using ND filters. They'll make it easier to deal with the light.
At the end of the day, if YOU'RE happy with the photo, that's all that matters. A professional could probably find 20 things wrong with every photo I take. I'm just happy to see that I've improved over the last few years. By the way, can someone tell me how to post pictures? I still can't figure out how to do it! :(
I've had luck using Kenko's ND Filters for shots like this.
