something else is the built in IS if the camera can't stabilize the image it will not take the pic at least on the 7d

70-200 is II is my goto lens I also have the 400 F5.6 for birding and the 28-135 not a bad lens but not L quality. The is in the new 70-200 is unreal I have used very slow shutter speeds hand held 1/8 compared to the 400 seldom ever get usable under 1/200

I shoot in low light that will not allow auto focus to work even on the 70-200 but i also do birding and use auto focus for flight shoots
