Is the new Rebel T4i worthwhile? I have been thinking of upgrading to a 60d for the frame rate but now Canon has the new rebel with "Digic 5". Has anyone tried it? Or is it too new? I now have the Rebel XTi and like it but the slow frame rate makes capturing tennis shots a challenge.

The 60D is a MUCH better build quality. If I had the choice and money was not an object, 60D.

if you are into movies then the Rebel T4i is the better camera but if not your thing then the 60D. I have the XTI and a 60D and I love using both cameras.

I'm not ready to commit quite yet so I think I'll wait till the T4i has had a little time to stew and see what people really think. Canon is trying to cater to the average consumer and that is me. My wife likes tennis and I go along to take pics. If I had no price limit I would go for the Pro model full frame! I'll look for a better lense for now. Thanks for the info...

You really should take a close look at the T4i as if offers leading edge upgrades in quite a few areas and the auto focus has been upgraded to be pretty much on par with the 60D as well has the shutter which you already mentioned. There is no real difference in the quality of output from the two cameras so that really should not be your consideration, features and if you need and will use them should drive your decision. If you think that you will be shooting video then I would definetly say look at the T4i as it is the only camera in the Canon line to offer auto focus in the video mode The T4i also offers a touch screen LCD which is very cool.

The 60D is a great camera but if you are not shooting video, I am not so sure that the older 50D is not a better camera, I have both bodies as I bought the 60D with anticipation of selling my 50D but have not yet made a decision. I do find myself shooting with the 50D more than with the 60D, maybe the older camera is more like and old friend that I am used to. But many people feel that the 60D was a step down from the 50D in the way the you interface with the camera and some of the features that the 60D lost. I don't know if they still have any available but last month Adorama had 50D's on sale new with warranty, a 18-135mm lens, a Canon Bag, with extra battery for $1000.00 You will not miss the 3 mega pixels as the data in a picture is exponential so it really makes little difference in the print size and 15 mega pixiles is way overkill for screen viewing.

I appreciate the input and was also on Adorama site and they have a T4i package with lense 16 Gb card bag and software for $1260.00. This seems to be the best deal around so far.

As mentioned about the 50D, it is a very good camera. However, the noise at ISO 800 is much worse than my T2I @ 1600. I find the 50D I use less and less in favor of the T2i. I like the build quality of the 50, feels like a tank in your hand yet comfortable. I have no conclusion, I like both cameras. My future body will be the 7D to replace the 50.

I have also been looking at the 7D it has dual processors and the battery life isn't as good but it has 8fps. The T4i battery life is also less because of the live view and other battery drains but with spare batteries this isn't a problem. I don't need a titanium body, I have two rebels now and havn't broken them yet. I also like the smaller body.

I can power shoot for days on the 7D on the same battery charge and it never wears out. The battery is awesome!
