Upgrading is an interesting subject.

You haven't said what lenses you presently have, but 95% of the time in the camera/lens combination, the lens is the weak link of the chain. Your Rebel will out perform all lenses until you get into the "L" series. In my opinion upgrading the camera body should only be considered after you have invested in absolute top lenses and "milked" the total quality ability of the present camera body.

I know that doesn't answer the frame rate, but fast frame rate is, in most cases, valuable only on a very small percentage of our image capturing unless you are a sports photographer, or specialty photographer requiring that feature. I believe image quality is still more important than frame rate.

That's my 3 cents worth :-P

Out of curiosity, have you tried shooting tennis video and then selecting an individual frame for the shot you were trying to get?

I do not have the 60D, but had the chance yesterday to play with one. I agree that its frame rate is decent enough for sports. I am also quite enamored with the articulating screen. I think, however, that it will soon be replaced by a later generation item. When that happens its price will plummet, especially at keh.com. I will wait for that to happen. Can you?

Although I am looking at new tech I like my little XTi and while I lust for the exotic wonder camera and lenses I still have a lot to learn from my little Rebel.

The Rebel series has been a a great one. Have had several with no problems and have really liked them. The only reason I change upward is a compulsive need to spend money and try the latest and greatest. Besides its fun.

But the 7D's titanium body will conduct the heat away like a radiator where the plastic bodies wont. One strong suite the 60D has over all the Rebel line is a much brighter pentaprism viewfinder vs. pentamirror. Myself I'll stick wih the 7D and look forward to the goodies on the mark II.

The 7D is my choice, but one caveat to this that people might want to be aware of is that the 7D is a "sealed" body. A guy that I know has one and he told me that it can get overheated if shooting a lot (and I mean, a lot). The time I used it for a gymnastics event, I shot several thousand images over a 3 day period, but experienced no problems with his 7D. I like the idea of a sealed body too, but I thought I'd mention that issue since it might be a problem for some.

Knowing what I know, if I had a choice and money weren't an issue, I'd get a 7D. That 60D is nice though. It would be an improvement over either of my current cameras (the 400D (XTi) and a 40D).

The up grade of the 60D was the 7D. Canon knows how to sell cameras. Smile

The movable rear viewing screen is a nice feature. Faster FPS for sports and moving action. Bigger file size. Better sensor and programing. That said I used a T1i for several years and thought it was a great camera. Have moved to a Canon 60D which I like better. The T4i feature wise looks a lot like the 60D. It should prove to be popular.
