Has UHH considered providing a Thread generator the capability to block replies from those who do not provide some positive input to the thread subject matter?

You are photographing your model in the botanic gardens.
It is bright sunshine. She is sitting on the grass getting ready to pose. You take a white balance calibration in the usual way. You take several photographs which look fine then you decide to move your model for some photographs among a large bed of orange poppies and still in bright sunshine. Should you take another white balance calibration?

Thank you for the posting.

After wading through the majority of the comments, the few nuggets found are appreciated.

You do seem to be a lighting rod though.

I have a D5100 with two lenses (18-55 mm and a 55-300 mm). I previously just used ps cameras. I have had this one for about 6 months and am trying to now step it up so to speak. I would love take night photo's of the stars, woods etc without lighting everything up. I've read the manual, watch videos and I cannot figure it out. If someone could help me with some tips I can try so that I can get a handle on this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks for reading my plea! :-)

There may be other links on the UHH that can be found using the above search function.

I typically do not look at topics that do not have indicators in the subject line on what type of help is being sought. In the future please add some information in the subject line relative to what you want help with.

Thank you.

Hi Fellow Hogs

I have a bit of a dilemma, albeit a quite nice dilemma, but a dilemma nonetheless. I have been offered a good part ex deal on a brand new Nikon D7000 that would see me sacrificing my Sony A77 Body and I'm not sure whether to do it or not. I have already been to snapsort and the Winner was the D7000 by a couple of points, and the D7000 is the Dx Format camera I have wanted for a while, am just not sure about sacrificing the sony. Since getting my D5100 the Sony has sat unused and unloved in the corner of my cabinet. so the choice is take it out and start using it or get shot for a shiny new D7000 without the EVF that I rather dislike on the Sony :D
Am just after a show of hands really in terms of who would stick with the A77 and who would take the D7000, many thanks in advance guys

I suspect it is what are your wants and needs are relative to your wife's and her "show of hands" -- not our "show of hands". I sort of balance my decisions with the following: "Happy wife -- Happy life" and "How long do I think I can tolerate eating supper in the drive way, IF I make the wrong choice". Good luck on your information gathering and decision.

Please provide some information on what it is you need help with in the future. That way I can determine IF I may have something of value to contribute.
Thank You.

I believe you will find a good starting point for Mscro information if you enter "Macro Equipment Set-Ups" in the search feature above.

Good luck on your search and enjoy

MT, I have the greatest respect for your expertise.

But I would invite you to Boulder to put their (policy?) (ordinance?) to the test. But never mind for now. I intend to test it myself as soon as possible.

Boulder is proud of being "different". And that extends especially to their ordinances, policies and enforcement thereof.

Stay tuned...

Is the point to take pictures or find a fight? I find a low profile is best for taking a picture. I also have found that if you go in looking for a fight -- you can usually find it. It may be a fight will result in further gray area constraints being set in place. Think about it.

And it ultimately drives us beyond infinity and into the black hole. This is clearly explained by Cornell University as follows:

<Our high inflow solutions are very similar to the standard Shakura & Sunyaev (1973) results. But our low inflow results are to zeroth order the stationary Papaloizou and Pringle (1984) solution, which has no accretion. To next order in the small, assumed viscosity they show circulation, with disk and conical wind outflows almost balancing inflow. These solutions are characterized by hot, vertically extended disks, and net accretion proceeds at an extremely low rate, only of order alpha times the inflow rate. Our simulations have converged with respect to spatial resolution and temporal duration, and they do not depend strongly on our choice of boundary conditions.>

I hope this clarifies the issue :)

If you are going out where the "wild" bears are truly wild, then practice until you can run in excess of 35 miles/hour; If you are going out to where the Wild" bears are somewhat tame and accustom to people get a good telephoto lens use it, else practice until you can run in excess of 35 miles/hour OR go to a zoo.

HDR Master? Na still learning.

Up until a few months ago I would have said no but now I say definitely yes. My reasoning is to do with alignment. The alignment process in Photomatix is good but nowhere near as good as PS (though the HDR processing itself in Photomatix is, IMO far superior to Photoshop) So I have found that I end up with sharper results by taking all the bracketed pics into Photoshop and opening them in the RAW viewer. I then do a lens correction on all of the bracketed pics and reduce CA. I then open them in PS and form a stack and auto align them. Once aligned I crop very slightly around the stack and then save the bracketed pics as tif files. With this workflow I end up with a bracket of well aligned pics of exactly the same size, lens corrected and reduced CA which is the perfect starting point for Photomatix. Hope that makes sense.
