Hi Fellow Hogs

I have a bit of a dilemma, albeit a quite nice dilemma, but a dilemma nonetheless. I have been offered a good part ex deal on a brand new Nikon D7000 that would see me sacrificing my Sony A77 Body and I'm not sure whether to do it or not. I have already been to snapsort and the Winner was the D7000 by a couple of points, and the D7000 is the Dx Format camera I have wanted for a while, am just not sure about sacrificing the sony. Since getting my D5100 the Sony has sat unused and unloved in the corner of my cabinet. so the choice is take it out and start using it or get shot for a shiny new D7000 without the EVF that I rather dislike on the Sony :D
Am just after a show of hands really in terms of who would stick with the A77 and who would take the D7000, many thanks in advance guys

I only buy new gear, never sell the old one. And I use all of it, not all the time, the new gear gets more attention for awhile but every camera has it advantages over the other so everything is kept and used.

Usually the same applies to me, however with the money I've shelled out so far in the last 12 months on cameras and other equipment its a little hard to Justify £600 (approx $900) for another body. Roughly translates to "The Wife Wont Let Me!!!"

LOL Most of us have that wife thing to contend with. The reason I would make the trade is commonality of systems and parts- displays, menus, terms, lenses, etc.- for me at least making the trade would seem to be a no-brainier. ;)

And you do very well with them and right now the D7000 is an excellent buy. For someone who is just starting out with DSLR photography and has no asperations other than taking some good pictures I would favor the 5200 over the D7000 for the newer 24mp sensor and it too is well priced. :)

Wives love it when you sell stuff but who wears the skirt in your family anyway? Go on, dry your hands, put those dishes away, take your apron off and go out and buy the jolly thing.

You say "sacrificing my Sony A77 body".....What about your Sony lens or lenses? I don't have a Sony, but that's a pretty big sacrifice. You have to also decide whether it's "Either/Or" or "Both" brands, and if one brand, then which brand is best for you in the LONG RUN. I know the D7000 is a great camera, but I'd think on that one a long time before I abandoned a Sony A77. Just my opinion.

I am a Canon user - but the A77 is overall ahead of ANYTHING Canon or Nikon has at the moment ( in crop frame ) - plus there are GREAT lenses available for the SONY - some exclusive Zeiss, some Minolta legacy .....

Hi Fellow Hogs br br I have a bit of a dilemma, a... (show quote)

I suspect it is what are your wants and needs are relative to your wife's and her "show of hands" -- not our "show of hands". I sort of balance my decisions with the following: "Happy wife -- Happy life" and "How long do I think I can tolerate eating supper in the drive way, IF I make the wrong choice". Good luck on your information gathering and decision.
