I agree. In 10 days I encountered only one surly Frenchman. He was behind the counter in the post office, and everybody else was most friendly and helpful. Does the term "ugly American" come to mind? Some tourists create their own abrasive experiences.

In several trips to France, I've never met an unfriendly Frenchman. I doubt they can say the same about America.

Yes, Lightroom is still available as a stand-alone product. If you have an earlier version, you can go online to Adobe.com and get a discounted price on a download of the latest version. It's hard to find the upgrade discount, so you may need to get into a chat session with a salesperson to get a link. Last time I checked, I think the upgrade price was $79.

I just picked up a 2TB USB 3.0 Seagate Backup+ slim drive at Staples a week or two ago and it was only $69. I doubt that you will run out of room, but you could easily take an extra USB drive with you. Or better yet, take what you've got and pick up another along the way if you need it.

I haven't been to Ace, but I see from their website that they're in Ashburn VA. You'll definitely need a car while you're in DC if you want to shop there.

I got a factory refurbished D5500 body recently from Cameta for $479. Still learning to use it, but very happy so far. I love the touchscreen!

Results are all over the board. I had two generics with my Nikon D60 that are still going strong after 8 years and their performance is indistinguishable from the Nikon battery that came with the camera. On the other hand, many people report having generic batteries that swell or leak and damage their camera. It's just luck, I guess. Why take the chance that you will damage an expensive camera just to save twenty bucks or so on a battery? I still use the generics I have when I use my D60 as a backup, but when I upgraded to a D5500 I bought an extra Nikon battery.

There's an IGNORE feature? That's great! There are several posters that I would love to never see posts from again.

This is actually one of the friendliest photo forums. The majority of the people here try to be helpful. If you see that someone is a little too aggressive you can add them to your ignore list. This should keep them from responding in a thread that you start.

Try it for a while, you might like it.

The problem with a newbie section as I see it, is that most of the members with the most knowledge and experience aren't going to follow it very closely, if at all. I suspect we would end up with a section read mostly by newbies, with answers given mostly by newbies. I don't think that's doing them any service.

The solution, obviously, is for everyone to be civil. Unfortunately, there's no way to force an immature adult to grow up.

Stopped? This was Trump's doing. He's not going to stop it. It's part of his anti-muslim agenda.

Hi All,
I'm going to Yellowstone for the first time this summer. Since I understand the best way to see things is driving and walking, I don't want to carry too much equipment. I shoot mostly with my Nikon d7100. I also sometimes carry a Nikon D5300. If you were to put one go to lens for the trip would you use, the 12MM-24mm, the 28MM-300MM, the 18mm-200MM( VR1) or the 17MM-55M. I'd rather no be changing the lens much. Would you bring both cameras and if so, which lens would you put on each. My thoughts are the 17MM-55MM on the D 7100 and the 28MM-300M on the other. Please give me your thoughts. Thanks
Hi All, br I'm going to Yellowstone for the first ... (show quote)

At a minimum, I'd bring both of those lenses. Personally, since the scenery is so spectacular, I think I'd bring everything I own.

"This ban has nothing to do with security. It is to overcome the financial advantage the foreign carriers have over the American carriers. Thank you, Mr. Trump."

Totally agree. This is to give the US airlines a competitive advantage over certain mid-eastern airlines that are known and favored for their superior service. Terrorists will be clever enough to choose a different airport.
