I'm going to Paris and only taking one lens. I don't want to keep changing lens and I want to lighten my load. I'm taking a 24-105 lens. Am I making a mistake?
If I could only take one lens, that one would probably suit me.
On a full frame camera that would be fine. This is from personal experience.
On a crop body probly not wide enough.

I shoot with a crop camera and, having been to Paris, I agree.

If I were taking my 6D (a full frame) that's the lens I would take. If I were taking my 60D (crop sensor) then I would take my 18-270 Tamron. Have a great time.

That should do fine. If you'd need more zoom, the Canon EF-28-300L would be a great lens, and resembles the one you show on your pic.
I have a canon 6d (full frame). So the wide angle is not the problem.
I have done that but always pack a small prime, 35mm or similar for a backup. I have never had to put it on but once had a drop, nothing was damaged, but would have been able to continue having fun with the prime.
Good choice of range on full frame. I use Olympus E-5 with a 2x crop. My walk around lens here in Ljubljana is 12-60 which is effectively 24-120, similar to what you are taking. Excellent results in the narrow alleys and streets here. Have only wanted something wider on two or three occasions in seven months.

No, Iwent to Paris with a Panasonic LX-3 and was very happy with my photos.

The 6D mounted with that lens is an awesome combination, and should be all you need.
I went to Paris last October with a Canon 6D and a Canon 24-70mm F2.8 II and I rarely pined for my heavy 28-300mm. So much to see and do in a VERY camera friendly city. So many friendly and patient people. Just be polite and try to speak a little French and you will be rewarded. Everywhere there are wonderful things to photograph.

Sounds good to me. On the other hand, if you bring another lens, change it in your hotel and spend the day shooting with one lens. For decades, photographers took great pictures without have a choice of focal length. My choice for travel is a compact and one lens.

That makes good sense. With big cameras and lenses you have a target on your back. I am a super-zoom in my pocket guy and such cameras are there 24/7
