Nothing is clear or in focus in any of them. Very distasteful.

Thanks for commenting.

Sorry--I just cannot connect with what you are trying to do here, or in the other post. All I can see is the blur, not the art.

Thanks for looking and commenting.

I’m not trying to be mean spirited but find nothing of interest in any of these; not color, not composition, not texture…. no evidence of forethought, no continuity, no pattern… nothing.
I appreciate your explanation of why and how these were made... but would really like to hear how you believe any of these images succeed in that effort.
As a suggestion... use an ND filter and longer exposure... a full second or two... simplify and exaggerate... go for swoops and swirls of color and motion... of course that's my suggestion and may not support your intended purpose.
I’m not trying to be mean spirited but find nothin... (show quote)

For one who's not trying, you do extremely well. Thanks for the thoughtful suggestions.

These were inspired (really) by an article in the Sept. issue of Popular Photography entitled STAY A SPELL, on the long exposure images of Matthew Pillsbury. My effort was to combine long exposures with street photography, yielding abstracted, anonymous, human forms.
All images were made with an 18-55 lens set at infinity, f22 aperture priority, ISO 100 and VR off.
About 1/3rd were made without raising the camera above waist level.

Far too out-of-focus to make the photos interesting--were you trying to do this?

Thanks for responding. Lack of focus is intentional--and I'm trying to make them interesting. Check out Chapt. 2 in the next day or so, for an explanation of how and why.

Looked at your exif data, shutter way too slow and a lot of camera movement and shake.
1/6, 21 mm, f/22, ISO 100
Put the ISO setting on auto and set a shutter speed of about 1/100, change the aperture to no more than f/8 and you will get rid of most of that motion blur as long as you hold the camera fairly steady.

Looked at your older posts, don't have this problem, were you trying for all that blur as "art" or something?

Thank you for responding. As to your question: Yes, my intention and ambition is to be an artist-photographer--whether good, bad or indifferent is for others to decide. Check out Chapt. 2 in the next day or so for an explanation of how and why these were done, along with the remaining shots in the series.

Check out the Nikon D3300 for small size, light weight and IQ capability. It doesn't seem to recognize some of the older lenses, but the wide array of DX lenses, and (not to be scorned) excellent kit lenses available, presents a very fine system at low cost. Weight and simplicity are really important for me at 90 years.

I'll give you a plug, I have both of those lenses and they are excellent. This would definitely be a good buy.

Thanks Bob. I appreciate the plug. I didn't mention that these lenses were made in Japan. Remember Japan? lol, Bob

35mm 2.0D, $240.00, and 20mm 2.8D, $340.00. Deduct 10% if buying both. Shipping paid in lower 48.
Lenses include caps, UV filters but no hoods. Both are in perfect condition, extremely sharp and auto-focus on 7000 series and later. Manual focus on 3000 and 5000 series. PM if interested.

Joan Benson is a famous name in the very small world of the clavichord, the music that was played on it, and its renaissance as a viable instrument today. She toured the world as a recitalist in the 50s, traveling alone with a clavichord that must have weighed 50 lbs. In these pictures, taken three years ago, she plays an instrument made by our son, Andrew. Joan, now 90, lives in Eugene.

Canon SX40.

Your skill in capturing the most minute detail in every square millimeter of the entire image is truly astonishing. How large is your work? Every drawing you've shared with us could hang in a gallery intermixed with fine photographs and no-one would be the wiser. Having this extraordinary ability, you must recognize that there is a world of masterpiece pictures that will not be confused with photographs, that are yet to be created. I hope you will be the author of many such, and that you'll share them with us.

Am interested if not sold. Are lenses VR II? How do you rate the condition of both body and lenses? Please describe any known flaws or blemishes.
