AF Nikkor 50mm 1.8D----SOLD
The smallest, lightest, least expensive and one of the sharpest in the line. Auto focus on bodies containing motor (all FX, and DX 7000 series and up). Manual focus (this one is very smooth) on all Nikons. Lens is like new. Caps included.
Front element is deeply recessed and hood is not needed.

I believe NO auto focus on the D3000 or D5000 series. Currently the D7000 series and FX bodies can AF this lens. Will also work on some older bodies like the D50, D70, D90 that have a focus motor built into the camera body. One can check the nikonusa.com website for the compatibility.

Without needing to check the Nikon site.... the D3xxx and D5xxx do not have internal motors, you are correct.... the D7xxx does, so an AF lens will work fine on a D7xxxx, on a D3xxxx or D5xxxx it will NOT focus automatically and must be focused manually.
The difference is noted by the lens being AF, AF-D or AF-S - AF-S being a lens with a motor for focusing built into the lens.
Also, if the lens is AF-D it is chipped and will meter and provide distance info to the camera.
