I had three A6500 Sony cameras...they all failed and Sony refused to warrant them.

What kind of failures did they have? Were they the same failures in all 3 cameras? Hard to believe Sony wouldn't stand behind 3 failures of the same model. They should have given you a new one for a history like that.

For my use, the A6000 fills all of my needs for an excellent travel and street camera.
Here's a good comparison of the 2 cameras. If you need the added/improved features found on the A6500 and don't mind paying an extra $550, the A6500 may be the way to go. Only you can decide.

IrfanView is a free program for download. If you can open your photo in IrfanView you can then save it in another format. It works great in a situation like this. It's packed with useful features for editing photos. Check it out.

...I always ask, if not stated, Is this a Nikon refurb? If they hem and haw or say no, I won't buy it. Another way is if it only has a 90 day warranty, it is NOT Nikon. Dead give-a-way. Nikon (Only company I am familiar with) has a 1 year refurb warranty on all the gear I have ever purchased.

From the NikonUSA website;

"Refurbished Products

All refurbished cameras, lenses and accessories include a 90-day limited warranty against defects in material and workmanship. It offers the same coverage as the Nikon Digital Imaging Warranty, just for 90 days instead of one year."

Good clear photos of the gear would be very helpful.

...refurbished from top rank vendors (B&H, Adorama, Cameta, and others with good ratings history) great way to go. Refurbished checked/inspected more direct off mfg. line. Try one, buy one, if you aren't convinced, send it back. No harm, no foul!

If you buy a Refurb and then return it because there is something about it that you don't like, does it then become a "Refurbished-Refurb"?

Check out Panasonic Lumix zs60. I used to own zs50 which I took to European tour in 2015 and Paris in 2015 captured great pictures and videos. Specs for zs60 say it has:

30x (24-720mm) LEICA DC Lens optical zoom performance is ideally suited for travel and everyday photography
• 18 Megapixel sensor delivers high-resolution photos with fewer image artifacts
• 4K Ultra HD video recording plus exclusive LUMIX 4K PHOTO and 4K Post Focus photo capture features
• Eye-level Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and touch-enabled LCD for a wider viewing experience
• Lens-mounted control ring brings DSLR-like exposure control to a compact point-and-shoot camera body

Price tag: $235.00 @ Amazon
Check out Panasonic Lumix zs60. I used to own zs5... (show quote)

Another vote for the Panasonic ZS60. I have the ZS40 and ZS50 and they are superb little cameras. I use them more than my Nikon DSLR or my Sony A6000. They will fit in your jacket pocket and the Leica lens is very sharp. It also meets your $300 limit on cost.

Call the raw police on me. Not only did I shoot this in Jpeg using a mediocre lens (Sigma 18-250), I also used the built in 2x teleconverter. The only thing I did to this pic was to crop it to 8x10. Of course the camera is a Sony, which probably has the best conversion engine on the market today. Now, if I could only have just as good of composition skills.

There you go again.....offending all of those "Artists" out there!!

I have this lens with a NIKON mount and use it for a "One lens is all you need" when I travel. It is fairly compact, gets pretty good reviews on most sites, and takes very sharp photos for a wide-range zoom. I don't experienced "lens creep" at all on mine. Mine is fairly tight and smooth. After reading all the reviews, some have the lens creep and some don't. Mine has a lock-feature that will take care of lens creep if needed. $200 is a super-bargain price for this lens. Good luck with it.

I upgraded mine last week, successfully thank God. I read before I started that some anti-virus programs will stall the update. They suggested shutting off or removing Avast anti-virus before starting the update. Then try the update again. I recommend shutting off real time protection if you are using Avast anti-virus. Then after updating, re-start or re-install Avast and everything should work fine. It worked for me. Did I mention I hate Microsoft and their "updates"? I have no confidence that they will work the 1st time at all.

I use the following setup:

Nikon D5300
Nikon Micro 40mm 1/2.8 G
Nikon ES-1 slide holder
Satco 500 lumens 5000k bulb
Bulb holder with rotary switch

The slide was shot with 1/100s f/4.5 ISO 200 maul focus

Slide was not cleaned before scan, there are still some specks visible in the shot.

Stunning improvement after Lightroom. Nice setup.

So don't buy it and let the other hoggers pay what they feel is fair for it. Assuming they need the
cash and to go to a pawnshop degrades from this person's ad for a very nice camera at a very fair
price due to the shutter count. There is no lens listed so obviously there isn't one included. If you
want to make comments about the price, send them a private message.

I find it hard to understand why some people will post derogatory remarks about other member's posts who are selling equipment. If you have no interest in what is being offered for sale keep your remarks to yourself or send the OP a PM if you must. For what it's worth, if I were in the market for a D7200 I would buy this one, considering it is near new with a very low shutter count and the price is around $100 off of what you would pay elsewhere. Sounds like a good deal to me.

I have used an Epson Perfection V300 Photo Scanner that my son gave to me several years ago. I have scanned a couple thousand 35 mm slides and countless photos and documents on it. It still works like new and does an excellent job. It is tedious work. And it WILL drive you to drink.

Now....where is that bottle?
