I want to capture what I see and what I want to see.
Sometimes I see overexposed and sometimes I see underexposed.
Sometimes I never get it quite right.
Or don't even know just what I see.
It's all OK.

Any lens that does't have a red ring around it and/or provoke my wife to say "You spent how much for what?"

I love LR and PS, I own a copy of LR6 and PS6, I have been wary of transitioning to the CC, and your experience retold here just reinforces my reluctance.

I love LR both for managing and editing and only make the round trip to PS occasionally. Both programs have their own benefits and drawbacks. It's for you to decide.

Do you have a lot invested in one brand of glass?
If you are shooting RAW incamera processing is of no import.

Try opening the photo as a TIFF in Ps first then go to a plugin or external editor from there, when done save the resulting photo back in LR from Ps the round trip from LR to Ps and back always works with me.

Multiple focus points might be helpful in some situations, sports, etc., but keep in mind only one focus point counts.
For almost all situations I use a single point that I select with my thumb on the joystick.

Looking at the crop, I don't see a problem, looks like the color of the foliage showing through.

I am not a fan of noise reduction, but a gentle application of chromatic noise reduction might soften those red spots.

I replaced a 2010 iMac (16 gigs of RAM) with a new MacBookPro, 8 gigs of RAM and a SSD.
LR on on the MacBook takes less than 5 seconds to open. PS6 takes less time to load and open. My catalog is on the the SSD startup drive and my photos are on external drives. I use Smart Preview for casual editing.
On my old iMac LR took forever to load and open.
