Wasabi En-El 15 Batteries/Charger

I just happened onto a post a few days back where Wasabi, Watson and Nikon versions of my particular battery were mentioned. If I remember correctly the consensus is that Wasabi and Watson are very good replacements for the Nikon OEM version. I am however a bit confused as to whether the Nikon charger is compatible with the Wasabi battery. I assume that it is because I received a second battery when I purchased my d7100 a couple of years ago made by Power 2000 which I've been charging regularly on my Nikon charger. I'd like to hear some opinions regarding longevity of the Wasabi before going off half-cocked and buying one. I've been alternating my Nikon battery with the Power 2000 battery for the past two years, probably 5000-6000 clicks. The Power 2000 is practically dead and I still get close to 150+ raw images on the original Nikon battery.

I don't use that model specifically, but I have been using wasabi brand batteries in all my cameras since about 2010.

I'm not a Nikon user but, I have an Empire Scientific charger and use Sony & Duracell batteries in my Alpha 850 with no problems. The Sony batteries are older & don't last as long as the Duracells.

I've been using the Wasabi batteries for a Canon camera with the OEM charger for about 2 years now and I find they work just was good as the original parts.

Although I don't have direct experience with Wasabi, I did by an off-brand spare when I had a D5000 and it had a better mah rating that the Nikon and worked great. I gave the camera to my oldest son and both of the batteries still work great.
Also, I can see no reason why an off-brand battery wouldn't work in the charger. It uses the same contacts to absorb energy as it does to release it. It would be the camera that would be the concern. Sometimes the batteries have proprietary things inside that obviously won't be present in a non Nikon item but I've never heard of the 7100 having those issues.
If you can get more mah for less, go for it.

The Watson En-El 15's work fine in the D7000 and D7100 Nikon charger. The batteries don't work in the D500 though.

I have one OEM DSLR camera battery and two DSLR Watson batteries. In some instances the Mah are higher than the OEM. Just for safety reasons, I haven't used them in cameras under warranty. After warranty, use them like others. Are the aftermarket batteries equal in quality to the OEM? Probably not. That's why they are less expensive. The OEM battery may have an slight overall longevity advantage. I have an OEM charger and an aftermarket charger that I use for the Watson batteries. Never go on a trip without charger, extra battery, and memory card.

No...dedicated wasabi chargers...they seem to charge better.

I'm using wasabi battery as a backup on my Nikon D7000 and D750 for almost 2 years now and it is performing like the Nikon batteries.

It behooves me why one would spend thousands on camera gear only to penny pinch on a third party battery...

I use Nikon charger for my Wasabi batt. and I tell no difference when using any of my batteries, Nikon or other. Have done this for several years

Wasabi is something that goes with sushi. I only use OEM equipment.
