Will be visiting 5 National Parks in Utah in about 10 days. Have Nikon D800 & all 3 trinity lenses (14-24, 24-70, 70-200.) For those who have been there, which lens would you have on your camera most of the time? My wife & I are both late 60's age. Will be doing some hiking but not too strenuous.

You can put all three to good use. I ended up using the 24-105 most though.

I've been one of those having "teething problems". Just finished the FW update and am taking the camera to work with me, to try. It should be pretty obvious if this has "fixed" my issues in Ai SERVO mode. Will give some initial impressions this evening.

Look for your feedback on this. Since I haven't had any issues with the 7D2 I'll wait to see what it seems to rectify/solve before I update the firmware.

I can adjust my noise reduction in lightroom and sharpen ., I was expecting the noise levels to much better in this 7d mark.2
very disappointed

I do very little if any PP and am quite happy with the results right out of the camera. Sorry I can't relate to your dilemma as I've taken it to very high ISO's for testing and the noise level held up well.

Thank you i only purchase one not both, just hard to decide

I switched from the 7D to the 7D2 and notice a significant improvement in the ISO capabilities of the 72 over the original version. But for that I'd have been happy with the 7 esp., having the 5D3 also. But the 72 is so much more versatile in what it can do. Given your shooting scenario, you may be better off with the 7D2. Save the money and put it into glass.

What lenses are you shooting with?

I shoot with both the 7D2 and the 5D3 - For action, sports and reach I use the 72 for all else the 53. Both excellent bodies. No complaints.

After much thought, and multiple problems - I did it. I got a 5dMKIII. And now the story. Having had problems ordering from Canon online since I have a CA billing address and a MT shipping address I learned that I need to order on the phone directly with Canon sales. And so, on April 22 I called Canon, explained to the very nice agent my problems with previous orders, and after being assured that with her handling it directly there would be no problem. So I placed my order for a refurbished 5DMKIII for $2239. I got confirmation of the order and eagerly awaited the camera. After not hearing anything in a week I called Canon and was informed that the order was cancelled automatically because of address discrepancy. I again placed the order and this time I was again assured that there would be no problem and that this agent would personally handle the problem with a supervisor the next business day. Having learned not to trust Canon I called this past Monday and was again told that the order was automatically cancelled. At this point I became not so nice. I demanded to talk to a supervisor who said she would personally take care of the problem. She placed the order and said that "By the way, the price just dropped $40 so the cost was $2199). This time it went smoothly and the camera was delivered Thursday 5/7. I am chomping at the bits to get my hands on it when I go back up to my house in MT in a couple of weeks. Until then I will just be happy I got it.
After much thought, and multiple problems - I did ... (show quote)

Congratulations, you'll cherish this body and enjoy. I too had a similar problem with placing an order for a laptop from Lenovo, ordering from one state where I am and having shipped to another and the order kept getting cancelled. Finally got around the problem by using Amazon payments, where both my addresses were validated by prior purchases. Go figure .....

question new and I was wanting to buy this lens but $$$ man is there one you may recommend that is same speed and durable as this..???

My suggestion ... if you happen to try it out anywhere (rental or borrow) at all you will not want another as there's none other like this one. Simply a superb lens.

Has anyone here on the Hog ever sent a 24-105L for warranty within the first twelve months??
What about after that??
I've never sent in a Canon lens!! ;-)

For me, never needed any work on any Canon lens. However my 7D had the shutter release go bad outside of warranty and it wasn't inexpensive to get it repaired.

Hi Hoggers,

Has anyone tried the new Canon 100-400mm lens with either the Canon 1.4 or 2.0 teleconverter? I'm thinking about buying this combo. At this point buying the lens is a given. I'm trying to decide if I will get the TC too.

I will be using this combo on wildlife. Any opinions, help or comments will be most welcome. Thanks in advance.

Tim

I too would be interested in hearing what others have to say as I am in the market for the lens when the price is right (for me), though not necessarily for the TC.

I think UHH member LFingar has this combo and he is quite active on this forum and has posted several comments on this exact combo. You may want to PM him.
